Virginia Tech guard Laura Haskins is the first recipient of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Kay Yow Award.
The ACC on Thursday presented the award to Haskins as the league's scholar-athlete of the year.
Haskins earned her business management degree in three years and is enrolled in Virginia Tech's MBA program.
The four-time member of the ACC's all-academic team ranks third in the league in assists.
The award is named after the Hall of Fame coach from North Carolina State who died in January after a two-decade fight with breast cancer.
