RE: NIT does not pick N.C. State

I agree with Marco Polo and his "rant"....i am confused by TBK....TBK was ranting most of the year about how bad Sid was, and then he does an about-face and starts sticking up for the coach....i agree that we should give Sid another year, but he has shown disturbing trends that Marco Polo alluded to....u have to coach the players u have..the fundamentals of coaching seem to be alien to Lowe...and he DEFINITELY does not click with his players, which is essential to success...was TBK at the practices to witness Mays outplaying Javi prior to the last game? Although Mays played great, it highlights the stops and starts the coach creates with his team, and the lack of cohesion that LOWE creates in his team with his confusing, lurching style of dealing with the players....and i do not recall the team playing with any passion or inspiration most of the year....whenever they would get some momentum going, Lowe would do a line-up change and effectively kill the energy that was generated...how can a former standout point guard not seem to have a feel for the game? that being said i am willing to wait another yr,maybe 2...however, i fear that the die is cast, and i am not sure that Sid is the answer...y is ferguson leaving? maybe b/c he starts for 8 or 9 games and plays pretty well, then gets banished to the bench for the rest of the season....no continuity or defined roles for the players leads to confusion and APATHY

RE: NIT does not pick N.C. State

NCSU Basketball is completely irrevelant.

I think we should keep the Low at least another 15 years, TBK? Maybe by then at $1 million dollars a year, he'll have a nice nest egg to bridge to a different career.

He's done a great job teaching fundamentals, instilling team D, drawing up a play, inspiring the players to hustle and play their hearts out, making players better, evaluating recruits and players (if Javi made so much improvement during the season, why was he riding pine the last game), recruiting great players (goes back to evaluating skills and READING the scouting reports), giving confidence to his players ability so that they can be leaders on the floor, improvising when a team switches defenses and offensive schemes (I want to rip that card from Sid's coat- I wonder who the H*&^ wrote that dang card- SID, NEWS FLASH DUDE, IT DOESNT WORK- COACH NOT FROM THE CARD), doing press conferences like he is a 3rd party bystander at a bank robbery, understanding and controlling the flow of the game for the benefit of OUR team, - - - - tbk, do I need to go on?

He should resign immediately. But he won't - how's he going to make the big money producing no results and a terrible product. What's up for next year?????????

From the NCAA showings, our conference is mediocre at best. What does this say about our ACC ranking?

Low's gotta go. This experiment has failed. It's really not fair to him and NCSU. He should leave the post or Fowl-up should take action now. WHAT ABOUT NEXT YEAR???? It's not looking good. Our only hope is that the stars on other teams all go pro. That won't help us though. It doesn't matter if we had Cousins, Favors, Wall and Leslie- we would still stink. You gotta have a coach on a BB team.

It's funny....the talking heads parading Sendeck hiring of Hardin's AAU coach. We get Simon Harris out of the deal. Gooooooooooood. (I'm sure he's a good kid but not DI bb player)

Sorry, you are irrelevant. Your rant sounds less like a State fan's more like a Carolina or Duke fan's that is trying to keep down NC State basketball.

You asked why Javi was riding the pine. Because Sidney was true to his word that he would play the best player each game. Mays was the better player in practice that week, and he was the better player that day on the court. THAT is why Javi was on the bench.

You also say that next year is not looking good? By what standard? State's recruiting class is ranked in the top 15 by Rivals.com I believe. And we're not finished yet. If Sid pulls off a miracle and pulls in Walls, we'll have a top five class next year. But with fans like you, it makes it more difficult to pull in someone like Walls. And what do you think will happen if we fire Sidney now? We'll lose ALL those good recruits.

You need to give it a rest and back Sidney for at least one more year. If we don't see MAJOR improvement next year, I'll join you in calling for his resignation.

RE: NIT does not pick N.C. State

I've heard that both Carolina and Duke wanted to fire Dean and K after their third years, too. I think we can safely agree that would have been a mistake! Will Sid be as good as them? I don't know yet. I just know it would DEFINITELY be another setback to fire Sidney now. Keeping him another year is not necessarily a setback. If there's no improvement, then let him go. Four years is enough time for any new coach to at least show some real improvement. And we wouldn't look like jerks for firing him prematurely.

RE: NIT does not pick N.C. State

Just look at Javi. He improved around midseason and became a pretty good PG. I believe if he had played like that last year and the first half of this year, we'd have been a tournament team. Heck, we were a few missed free throws from winning three more games where we blew big leads. Imaging if we held on in just those three games. We'd have been 19-13 right now, and still playing SOMEWHERE. People would be loving Sidney instead of calling for his head. I think this team underachieved a bit. It seems like we lost plenty more winnable games than we won.

I'm not saying we were great, but like our football team when they were 2-6, we weren't as bad as our record would indicate. Compared to LAST season, this was an improvement, and I think a BIG improvement.

Midseason it seemed no better than last season and I was ready to fire Sid on the spot. But he showed he is flexible and tried something new, and it worked pretty well for us (the new "big" lineup). We knew Sid would be getting on-the-job training when we hired him with no college experience. We can't really be mad at him for that, can we? He's getting that experience, though. That's the thing here. Let's give him another year to keep improving. We might have a winner and just don't know it yet.
