Wolfpack's Ellis to transfer, three recruits will not enroll
Jul 2, 2009
NC State sophomore cornerback Dominique Ellis has
decided to transfer to another school. Ellis, a former star at East Wake High School, played in all 13 games last season, seeing action mainly on special teams while tallying 13 tackles.
“I appreciate everything the NC State coaching staff has done for me
and taught me,” said Ellis. “I learned a lot from them, but at this
time, I think that for personal reasons, it’s in my best interest to
continue my career at another school.”
Wolfpack head coach Tom O’Brien also announced that three players who
signed with the Pack in February will not enroll at NC State at this
time: Tyson Chandler (OL, N. Plainfield, N.J.), Raynard Randolph (DT,
Brandywine, Md.) and Bryan Underwood (WR, University Heights, Ohio).

I would appreciate knowing why the 3 will not be attending. Just curious.

They did not qualify. They are going to prep school, and if they get qualified, they'll come next year.
Nothing to see here. Only 3 not qualifying out of an entire class is pretty good.
There is no comparison to UNC's shady practice of WAY over-recruiting, then running players off to make room, or recruiting guys they know have zero chance of qualifying. None at all.
Every program has a few that sign and don't qualify, NOT every program makes a habit of running players off, or getting them "medical hardships"...when they aren't hurt. Funny how that happens so much at UNC, FAR more than at other schools around here, yet some of the 'career ending' injuries don't keep those players from transferring to play at another school.

As for the 4 that will not be attending NCSU, I recommend they place their feet in a bucket of water and pull them out. The hole they leave will be how much I miss them as a Pack football fan. I'm sure TOB and the program will move forward despite this earth-shattering event.

State is still recovering from a losing season last year.. guess they wont be national champs this year

Don't be too sure.

No twisting by any journalist. My question is why will these three not enroll? Grades, conduct.....everyone gives other programs a hard time for recruiting players that do not qualify. If this is the reason why these three are not coming to NCSU, say so!

This may actually be pretty common. I think Butch recruiting like 29 guys, knowing they could only bring in 25 (or however many it was). I think at this level, you expect some to not qualify. I would like to know, too. I don't think TOB over-recruited and was forced to weed anyone out like Butch did. Did he?

Oh, I see how it goes. If TOB did it, well, he must have a great reason. If BMFD did it, he must be "weeding players out." Show me ANY evidence BMFD "weeded" players out.
You are the antithesis of your name.

Gladly. Butch recruited MORE PLAYERS THAN COULD POSSIBLY ENTER THE PROGRAM. So something had to give. Either some CURRENT players would have to leave (which happened, hence the weeding out comment), or some recruits would have to not qualify. Butch recruited too many players, knowing he could force a few guys to transfer.
TOB did not do this. There was a spot available for EVERY player TOB brought in this year. Some failed to qualify and one transferred, but even if none of that happened, EVERY recruit would have been on the team. The same cannot be said for Butch and all of his recruits. What if they ALL qualified? SOMEONE would have HAD to leave the team to make room. And some did.
Next question?
You can safely take back that comment about me being the antithesis of my name now. Your apology is accepted in advance.

UNC beats State 65%-95% of the time, depending on the sport.
Now that Butch isn't the only one weeding out the weak ones, it's "common practice".
UNC is a bunch of sissy baby pansies.
NC State is relevant due to their 3 consecutive losing seasons.
UNC's preseason rankings are just the usual media conspiracy against State.
I buy my UNC gear at Wal-Mart when I'm not partaking from the wine and cheese.
2009 was "last year".
And "41-10" soothes a lifetime of pain.
Did I forget anything?

No, that's pretty much it. But I don't like your sarcastic tone.
