Glance: 'I still want to coach'

Stephanie Glance is still eyeing a return to the sidelines.

The longtime assistant who led the North Carolina State women's basketball program after the death of Kay Yow is currently continuing her work with the charity that bears her mentor's name.

Glance became president of the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund when Marsha Sharp was officially announced as the first executive director of the entity in May of 2009. At that point, Glance's role with the group changed from vice president to president.

"I still want to coach," Glance said during a phone call with WRAL's Jeff Gravley Monday afternoon. "I would like to be a head coach but wouldn't be opposed to being an assistant coach in the right situation."

Glance spent 15 years as an assistant to Yow, the Hall of Fame coach who died in January after a long fight against cancer. Glance led the program as an interim coach both when Yow stepped away for treatments in recent years and after Yow took leave a few weeks before her death.

She applied to be Yow's successor, but the school hired Western Carolina coach and former Tennessee point guard Kellie Harper in April.

RE: Glance: 'I still want to coach'

Stephanie is a great person, and did a nice job filling in for our Coach Yow. She will be wonderful as President.no doubt. But NC State made the correct decision hiring the former Western Carolina coach to lead the Pack. She will turn the program around, and be a wonderful recruiter as well as the guy we got from Baylor. This may be the strongest coaching staff in the ACC now....give tem a couple of years, and you will see NC State at the top of the ACC and a resider in the top 25 from here on out. GO PACK!!!

RE: Glance: 'I still want to coach'

I hope Glance gets the chance to coach again - she's a good woman and deserves a chance. Time will tell if Fowler made the right decision. At any rate, I'm sure Stephanie will give her best effort for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

How do you know it wouldn't be any better, hard to say when she wasn't given a chance.

Fowler made the right choice

I know it may be hard to believe, but Fowler made the right choice. Women's basketball at NCSU hasn't been that good over the past several years. I don't think hiring somebody who has been involved during this time would've made NCSU women's basketball any better.

Great for Glance. Wonder if she is coaching?
