Julius Hodge happy to be back in Raleigh

Former N.C. State hoops star Julius Hodge is happy to be back in Raleigh for the summer. Hodge, who spent this past season playing professionally in Australia, will be hosting the first annual Julius Hodge Basketball Skills Camp.

The 2004 ACC Player of the Year will be heading back to Australia in September, but says he hasn't given up on a return to the NBA.

Hodge sat down in front of the camera, one of his favorite places, to be sure, and talked about his favorite to win the NBA Finals, as well as the future of Wolfpack basketball.

Hodge also told WRAL that he has been playing pick-up hoops with C.J. Leslie and believes the N.C. State signee is definitely going to make an instant impact in the ACC.

Exactly...there was never any criminal connection/connotation with the shooting incident...never any negative incidents before or after as I can recall either...regarding Steve Blake, Jules was only retaliating as would any other player....Oh, and for all of you Julius Hodge bashers, here's another thing for you...Julius Hodge..graduated...and GASP...ready for this? ...received his Bachelor's degree in 4 years!! Imagine that!:)

come on TBK, there is plenty of video footage of all games ...along with thousands of witnesses......if Blake elbowed him it would be on tape or in a pic or something.....

However, I agree with you ...a couple of incidences don't define Julius Hodge...for me as a Heels fan he was entertainment. He was a showman...much like
Vasquez ....but better than GV at it....

I am also not surprised that he didn't make it in the NBA, he just didn't have a jump shot ....I bet my best friend, a State Fan, 1k that he would never make it in the NBA (had to start over half the games in 2 seasons)....he has paid me 1/4 of the $$ but said that until "Jules" retires he won't pay me the rest.

So then, by your rationale we should also say that some small child that was an innocent bystander that was shot obviously had character issues. Nice. Hodge elbowed Steve Blake one time, and if you recall, Blake was always kind of a punk anyways.

If you remember the story correctly, those at the club didn't see Hodge arguing with anyone and police didn't believe the incident was provoked. His entire team stood behind him and said he was one of the good guys.
I met Hodge once (only once) but was very impressed with how nice (and kind of goofy) he was. He never acted like the cocky player you saw on the court and was almost shy. The best part about him was how much heart he played with. Thinking back to after he left, I think he took a lot of the heart of the team with him...

"I was kind of suprised he didn't do more in the NBA. "

After he was shot no NBA team wanted to deal with him.

Heels fan here. I too always liked Hodge. I was kind of suprised he didn't do more in the NBA.

I'm a Heels fan, but I always liked Hodge. He played with so much heart and left everything he had on the court. I remember his "Hungry" comment, and I think he feasted my my Heels more than once.
