N.C. State's Czajkowski out for season

Posted November 8, 2010

N.C. State kicker Josh Czajkowski is out for the rest of the regular season, head coach Tom O'Brien said Monday.

Czajkowski strained his hamstring while chasing down Clemson's Marcus Gilchrist on his last kick in Saturday's 14-13 loss. Gilchrist returned the kickoff 76 yards.

Czajkowski made 2-of-3 field-goal attempts and an extra point in the game. He's 14 of 18 on field goals this season and hit all but one of his 34 extra-point attempts.

O'Brien said J. Ellis Flint or Chris Hawthorne will kick for N.C. State on Saturday against Wake Forest. He said a decision will be made this week.

Flint is a redshirt sophomore from Amsterdam, N.Y. Hawthorne is a true freshman from Raleigh's Leesville Road High School.

The Wolfpack (6-3, 3-2 ACC) hosts Wake Forest (2-7, 1-5) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Consider this: We were right around the one yard line. TOB sent in the FG unit. Dana Bible started screaming to him that we were only six inches away from the goal line. Only then did TOB change his mind and went for it.

Good thing we weren't 12 inches away or we'd have tied the game, only to lose on a late FSU field goal.

That wasn't guts. We were just so close that we HAD to go for it. That made it easy for him.

Did you not watch the NC State/Florida State game? Could've kicked a 20 yard field goal to tie. Instead, TOB went for it on 4th and 1 and got a TD.
