Buies Creek, N.C. — Campbell University held its first football full scrimmage of the preseason Saturday night under the lights at Barker-Lane Stadium/Ed Gore Field.
The Camels ran approximately 120 plays in the two-hour long session, covering all phases, including special teams. The event closed with overtime and goal-line situations.
“Number one, we wanted to find out where we were 10 days into camp,” said head coach Dale Steele. “I was pleased with the effort. We were able to make some plays, and now we’ll get to work on what we need to correct with just 17 days left until our opening game.”
Campbell will hold its Football Fan Fest next Saturday (Aug. 18) at 6:15 p.m. that will also include an intra-squad scrimmage. The Camels open the regular season on Thurs., Aug. 30 at home against Shorter in a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
