Description: Former Bears DE Julius Peppers has agreed to join the Packers on a three-year, $30-million deal, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
Insight: The three-time All-Pro selection has 119 sacks, 40 forced fumbles and nine interceptions in his 12-year career (186 games).

3/11/2014 8:01:00 PM
Description: The Bears cut ties with right end Julius Peppers on Tuesday.
Insight: Today has been absolute carnage across the league as we've already seen DeMarcus Ware, Peppers and Thomas DeCoud get cut with Darrelle Revis likely to follow. The move gives Chicago about $8 million in cap relief. Peppers is 17th on the NFL's all-time sack list with 119 takedowns in 186 career games.

Insight: Very few teams would be willing to take on Peppers' $20 million salary, which means he's probably going to get cut. The 34-year-old collected 7.5 sacks last season, his fewest since 2007 when he was still with Carolina.

Description: Bears RE Julius Peppers has a sprained MCL in his left knee, but has not been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Vikings. Source: Vaughan McClure
Insight: Peppers has yet to be ruled for this week, so hopefully the sprain is mild. Peppers has two sacks in the first give games of the season, so he'll just either brace the injury or take some painkillers to get ready for the Vikings.

2/6/2011 11:58:00 AM
Description: The Bears aren't expected to be as active in free agency this offseason as they were in 2010. SOURCE: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES
Insight: The Bears made headlines by signing DL Julius Peppers, RB Chester Taylor and TE Brandon Manumaleuna last offseason. Peppers' stats really weren't that great compared to how much money he got. Taylor proved to be nothing more than a backup after some expected him to push Matt Forte for the starting job. Manumaleuna struggled to get on the field after undergoing a knee scope. Expect the team to make most of their noise in the draft to try and get younger, especially on defense.

Description: Bears DL Julius Peppers was fined $10,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Packers QB Aaron Rodgers during the NFC Championship Game. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Rodgers lost all momentum after the hit, which led to speculation that he had suffered a third concussion on the season, which he denied. Peppers first year as a Bear was decent, but not great. He ended up with eight sacks, three forced fumbles, and two interceptions.

11/19/2010 10:03:00 AM
Description: Peppers had three sacks against the Dolphins on Thursday night.
Insight: Peppers had just two sacks in the previous nine games, but he took advantage of an injury-riddled Miami offensive line. (RapidDraft.com)

11/8/2010 11:33:00 AM
Description: After what appeared to be a serious injury, Bears DL Julius Peppers revealed that he just had the wind knocked out of him late in the win against the Bills. SOURCE: CHICAGO TRIBUNE
Insight: There was initial fear of a concussion after Peppers' head hit the turf and he was down for several minutes, but he appears to be fine. Peppers went without a sack for the fourth-straight game and has just two on the year.

3/11/2010 11:50:00 AM
Description: The Chicago Sun Times reports Peppers will wear #90 for the Bears.
Insight: This is not major news per se, but at least Bears' fans will know what number to look for when looking for their team's biggest free agent signing. (SportsBuff.com)

3/9/2010 10:50:00 AM
Description: Pro Football Talk.com reports the $22 million that Peppers is guaranteed in the second and third years of his contract is guaranteed for injury only.
Insight: In other words, the Bears could cut Peppers after 2010 for skill reasons and owe him nothing more in guaranteed money. With everyone in the Bears' organization in essentially "do or die" mode for 2010, a house cleaning could become a possibility. (SportsBuff.com0

3/5/2010 5:07:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com reports the Bears have signed Peppers to a six-year deal that includes $40 million in the first three years of the deal.
Insight: Peppers was the biggest fish available on the free agent market, and Chicago was aggressive in their attempt to bring him on board. (SportsBuff.com)

3/5/2010 12:00:00 PM
Description: Jeff McLand of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports, via Twitter, that the Eagles have a substantial offer on the table for Peppers.
Insight: The Bears will be Peppers' first stop, and it has been widely reported and speculated that will be his ultimate destination. (SportsBuff.com)

3/5/2010 12:14:00 AM
Description: Lance Zierlein of KGOW in Houston reports, via Twitter, that the Redskins are "charging hard" after Peppers and a deal is close.
Insight: Zierlein also reported last offseason that DT Albert Haynesworth would wind up in Washington, so he appears to be well connected in the Redskins' organization. But there will be competition for Peppers' services. (SportsBuff.com)

3/4/2010 4:33:00 PM
Description: Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports, via Twitter, that the Bears are expected to "hit it big" at the start of free agency.
Insight: The Bears are reportedly very interested in signing Peppers, but they are not the only team for which that is the case. Since they don't have any picks in the first two rounds of April's draft, Chicago is likely to be fairly aggressive in the free agent market. (SportsBuff.com)

3/3/2010 12:05:00 AM
Description: The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears met with Peppers' agent over the past weekend.
Insight: If this did occur, it would be classified as tampering since free agency does not start until Friday. Peppers is the top free agent available, so many teams are likely to be interested in securing his services for next season and beyond. (SportsBuff.com)

3/1/2010 5:57:00 PM
Description: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports the Falcons are unlikely to be among the major players for Peppers.
Insight: Peppers should be highly sought after on the free agent market, and a bidding war could ensue. (SportsBuff.com)

3/1/2010 11:27:00 AM
Description: Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports the Redskins will pursue Peppers when free agency starts.
Insight: Given owner Daniel Snyder's history, this is not a surprise. Peppers has suggested he is willing to shift to OLB in a 3-4 defense, which is what the Redskins are changing to for 2010. (SportsBuff.com)

2/28/2010 9:43:00 PM
Description: Michael Lombadi of National Football Post reports, according to a league source, that Chicago is a logical landing spot for Peppers.
Insight: Peppers is one of the, if not the top, free agent available. Since the Bears don't have any draft picks until the third round this April, they are likely to be fairly agressive in free agency. (SportsBuff.com)

2/24/2010 7:06:00 PM
Description: Citing a league source, Brian Setzer of 950 ESPN radio reports (via Twitter) that the Eagles are a "target...of interest" for Peppers.
Insight: Peppers is of course scheduled to become a free agent, and there could be some mutual interest. (SportsBuff.com)

2/23/2010 11:51:00 PM
Description: Jason La Canfora of NFL.com reports, via Twitter, that Peppers is at the top of the Chicago Bears' free agent target list.
Insight: Peppers would likely replace Adewale Ogunleye, who is unlikely to be brought back by the Bears. He should be one of the most sought after free agents this offseason. (SportsBuff.com)
