NFL Game Summary - Chicago at Philadelphia

(Sunday, December 22nd)

Final Score: Philadelphia 54, Chicago 11

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Bears had a chance to clinch their division, but it all went downhill quickly in Philadelphia.

The Eagles stormed out of the gate and never looked back in a 54-11 rout on Sunday night.

Nick Foles threw two touchdown passes during Philadelphia's 21-point first quarter and LeSean McCoy rushed for a pair of one-yard scores for the Eagles (9-6), who knew before the game that the Dallas Cowboys won to set up a winner-take-all showdown next week for the NFC East title.

Philadelphia will once again be showcased on primetime, as the contest has been flexed to Sunday Night Football.

"I'm excited to go to Dallas and play another game," said Foles, who completed 21-of-25 passes for 230 yards. "It's a huge game. Everyone knows what's on the line."

The Eagles gashed the league's worst run defense.

Not only did McCoy rack up 133 yards on 18 carries, but Bryce Brown also surpassed the century mark on the ground, with 65 of his 115 yards rushing coming on a fourth-quarter touchdown that put the finishing touches on the lopsided win.

The Bears (8-7) could have secured the NFC North crown with a win after both Green Bay and Detroit lost. They will now host the Packers next week for the division title.

Marc Trestman succinctly summed up his team's performance. "We were terrible in all three phases," the Bears coach said.

Jay Cutler connected on 20-of-35 passes for 222 yards with a touchdown and one interception that Brandon Boykin returned for a 54-yard touchdown with eight minutes to go in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 47-11.

Josh McCown replaced Cutler following the pick-six.

The Eagles scored touchdowns on each of their first three possessions. They capitalized on a short punt and took an early lead when Foles, on the move, hit Riley Cooper in the back of the end zone for a five-yard touchdown.

After Devin Hester fumbled on the ensuing kickoff, McCoy finished off a five- play drive with a short TD run.

Once again, the Bears couldn't get any traction on offense, going three-and- out a second time.

On the next Philadelphia drive, McCoy bounced to the outside and picked up 10 yards on 4th-and-1 from the Chicago 37. Four plays later, Brent Celek caught a 10-yard TD pass.

The Eagles mustered only a Alex Henery field goal in a second quarter that ended with Robbie Gould drilling a 50-yarder for a 24-3 halftime margin.

McCoy appeared to fumble on the opening drive of the second half, but the call was overturned. The Eagles eventually punted and pinned Chicago at its own 2-yard line.

Matt Forte took a handoff in the end zone on first down and was tripped by Cedric Thornton, resulting in a safety. At first, Forte was ruled to have gotten out of the end zone. Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly challenged the play and it was reversed.

McCoy capped the subsequent Eagles drive by spinning out of Julius Peppers' tackle attempt near the goal line to make it 33-3.

The Bears finally reached the end zone when Cutler found Brandon Marshall for a six-yard TD pass to close out the third quarter. Cutler hit Earl Bennett for the two-point conversion.

Chris Polk added a 10-yard TD run for the Eagles.

Game Notes

The Eagles have won four straight at home after snapping a franchise-record 10-game losing streak at Lincoln Financial Field ... With 1,476 yards rushing in 2013, McCoy is 37 yards rushing shy of tying Wilbert Montgomery's single- season franchise record (1,513 in 1979) ... Philadelphia outgained Chicago, 514-257 ... The Eagles became just the fourth team in NFL history to record 12 games of 400-plus yards of offense in a single season ... Cutler (14,687) broke the Bears career passing yards record. He passed Sid Luckman by a single yard for the most in club history ... Forte was held to 29 yards on nine carries. He ran for more than 100 yards in each of the previous three games ... Trent Cole sacked Cutler three times.
