Peyton Manning voted top offensive player

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, who had a record season in leading the Broncos to the Super Bowl, was honored Saturday as the NFL's top offensive player, as voted by the Associated Press.

Manning broke NFL marks by throwing for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns. He also helped the Broncos set a league record by scoring 606 points in the regular season. Denver, which finished with the best record in the AFC at 13-3, faces the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl Sunday.

Manning completed 450-of-659 passes, had just 10 interceptions all season and finished with a QB rating of 115.1. He tied an NFL record by throwing for seven TD passes in the season opener against Baltimore.

This is the second time Manning has won the award. He also captured it in 2004 with the Colts and was the runner-up last year to Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

He received 33 votes to easily outdistance Philadelphia running back LeSean McCoy, who had 10 tallies. Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles (4), New England QB Tom Brady (1), Seattle signal-caller Russell Wilson (1) and New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees (1) also received votes.
