Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu left Sunday's game with a left knee injury.
Insight: We don't know how severe, but he was ruled out for the game. With a big lead, hoever, there was no reason to bring him back anyway, so we will have to wait to find out about the severity.

8/8/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu left Thursday's game with a knee injury.
Insight: The team called it "minor" according to beat writer Brian McNally. Helu is the backup for Alfred Morris and his job is safe as the third down and change-of-pace back.

10/20/2013 6:04:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu rushed for touchdowns of 14, 3 and 3 yards Sunday against the Bears.
Insight: Alfred Morris was still the workhorse, getting 19 carries and taking them for 95 yards, but Washington curiously went with Helu near the goal line. Helu has rushed for at least 41 yards in three straight games with four TDs in that span and is suddenly on the flex radar.

8/28/2013 11:03:00 AM
Description: Washington running back Roy Helu has grabbed the No. 2 spot behind starter Alfred Morris, according to offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.
Insight: The Redskins running back situation is easy - a rare feat when Mike Shanahan is your coach. Alfred Morris is the starter and star and Helu is his backup and handcuff.

6/7/2013 2:55:00 PM
Description: Washington running back Roy Helu ended last season on injured reserve (leg/toe), but appears to be healthy through the team's first OTAs.
Insight: The Redskins running back situation is easy - a rare feat when Mike Shanahan is your coach. Alfred Morris is the starter and the remainder (Helu., Evan Royster, Chris Thompson, Jawan Jamison) are fighting for the backup and reserve roles.

9/26/2012 12:15:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu has been placed on the injured reserve with a leg/toe injury.
Insight: The Redskins running back situation has become much clearer since the beginning of training camp. Gone are Tim Hightower and Helu. Evan Royster is hurting and Alfred Morris has run well for the past month. Even with the signing of free agent Ryan Grant, the tailback job belong to Morris until he plays himself out of it.

8/30/2012 4:33:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu further muddied the running back waters for the Redskins with his performance Wednesday night. Helu rushed for 90 yards and two scores on 15 carries and caught two passes for 34 yards in his return from two sore Achilles' tendons.
Insight: With Helu, Tim Hightower and Evan Royster all dealing with injuries, it was looking like Alfred Morris was the favorite for a heavy workload in Week 1. However, Royster also played well last night, rushing for 44 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. The Washington Post speculates that Hightower (ACL) could be the odd man out.

8/20/2012 6:13:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu may not play again this preseason due to soreness in both of his Achilles' tendons.
Insight: John Keim of the Washington Examiner said Redskins coach Mike Shanahan told reporters that Helu was now dealing with issues with both of his Achilles (he had missed time this preseason with left Achilles tendinitis). Helu should go undrafted in most fantasy leagues at this time.

8/15/2012 4:16:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu is expected to miss the team's second preseason game because of Achilles tendinitis.
Insight: Helu is quickly losing any chance, slight as it was, to win the Redskins starting running back job. With Tim Hightower also sidelined, it's appearing more and more likely that Evan Royster is the back to select on draft day.

8/13/2012 8:12:00 PM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu missed practice on Monday because of Achilles tendinitis.
Insight: Helu's grasp on the starting job had already been slipping away from him in recent weeks and this injury certainly won't help matters. Don't expect Helu to be Washington's Week 1 starter at halfback.

8/10/2012 10:32:00 AM
Description: Redskins running back Roy Helu was the backup to Evan Royster in Washington's exhibtion opener. He rushed four times for 17 yards and caught one pass.
Insight: With supposed starter Tim Hightower still recovering from last year's knee injury, the starting job appears to be Royster's to lose. Still, predicting the fantasy value of any Mike Shanahan running back has been a major headache since heydays of Terrell Davis. Draft Royster, Helu and Hightower at your own risk.
