9/1/2013 8:37:00 PM
Description: The Jets claimed running back Alex Green off waivers on Sunday. SOURCE: Michael Hoffman, Premier Sports and Entertainment
Insight: The Packers cut him loose about 24 hours earlier. He'll function as a change of pace option behind starter Chris Ivory.

8/31/2013 4:27:00 PM
Description: The Packers have moved on from running back Alex Green.
Insight: After Cedric Benson went down last season the Packers handed the running back job to Green and he proceeded to rush for 3.4 yards per carry on 135 carries. The Packers will use James Starks and rookie Johnathan Franklin as backups to Eddie Lacy.

1/2/2013 3:36:00 PM
Description: Green Bay tailback Alex Green (concussion) is questionable for Saturday's NFC Wild Card Playoff against Minnesota.
Insight: Ryan Grant, DuJuan Harris and Green will likely share the limited workload on the Packers' pass-first offense. None is a great choice as the team only attempted 16 rushes in the meeting last Sunday.

12/25/2012 2:59:00 PM
Description: Green Bay tailback Alex Green (concussion) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Minnesota, but coach Mike McCarthy says he will definitely be available, according to a Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel report.
Insight: Ryan Grant and Green will likely share the limited workload on the Packers' pass-first offense. Grant had 20 carries for 80 yards and two scores in his first game with the Packers in the Week 16 blowout win over Tennessee.

12/23/2012 10:44:00 AM
Description: Green Bay halfback Alex Green is out for Sunday's game against Tennessee because of a concussion.
Insight: Ryan Grant will start in his place. Grant is averaging five yards per carry on 10 touches this season.

12/20/2012 1:12:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Alex Green (concussion) didn't practice Thursday. SOURCE: Pete Dougherty, Green Bay Press-Gazette
Insight: Green is running out of days to be cleared to play Sunday and will likely miss the game. Ryan Grant, DuJuan Harris and John Kuhn would handle the rushing duties in Green's absence, but none of those players is an attractive option for Week 16.

12/19/2012 2:46:00 PM
Description: Packers' running back Alex Green is questionable for Sunday's game against Tennessee due to a concussion.
Insight: Green is getting 10-13 rushing attempts per game when healthy which is just below the level he needs to be a solid fantasy RB2. Blame the Packers' great passing game, but Cedric Benson was the only Green Bay back this season to thrive in this offense.

12/5/2012 12:27:00 PM
Description: If Packers' running back James Starks is done for the season, it would elevate Alex Green to the starter role with little competition.
Insight: Green rushed for 58 yards on 12 carries last weekend and could see up to 20 touches against the Lions this Sunday.

10/30/2012 6:48:00 PM
Description: Packers coach Mike McCarthy still wants running back Alex Green to be his lead running back going forward, according to team beat writer Tom Silverstein.
Insight: In the last three games Green only has 154 yards on 64 carries (2.4 ypc). McCarthy has stated he needs to see improvement in the team's running game but he clearly favors Green over James Starks (one carry Sunday). Still, Green is only a PPR option until he proves he can pick up yardage consistently.

10/28/2012 5:26:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Alex Green handled 20-plus carries for the third straight game but rushed for just 54 yards Sunday against Jacksonville.
Insight: James Starks only had one carry in the game but Green is going to have to improve if he wants to keep his job. In the last three games the running back only has 154 yards on 64 carries (2.4 ypc).

10/23/2012 12:23:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Alex Green had just 35 yards rushing in Week 7 against the Rams despite getting 20 carries.
Insight: Fantasy owners aren't the only ones disatisfied with that performance. According to a Tom Silverstein report in the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, coach Mike McCarthy was also unhappy. "There were too many 1-, 2-yard runs that should have been hardball 3-, 4-, 5-yard runs," said McCarthy. Maybe we'll see James Starks get a few opportunities this week.

10/22/2012 5:20:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Alex Green only had 35 yards rushing in Week 7 against the Rams despite getting 20 carries.
Insight: Green did catch four passes for 29 yards but he's going to have to be more effective running the ball to keep James Starks (zero touches Sunday) on the sidelines.

10/17/2012 5:51:00 PM
Description: Packers running back Alex Green was limited in practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury, according to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Insight: Packers coach Mike McCarthy announced Tuesday that Green would be able to carry a full load going forward so the injury is likely nothing to be concerned about.

10/16/2012 5:33:00 PM
Description: The Packers' running back competition has officially been resolved in the eyes of coach Mike McCarthy, according to Fox Sports Wisconsion. "Alex Green will be our lead running back," McCarthy said Monday.
Insight: Green carried 22 times for 65 yards and had gains of 7, 8, 9 and 10 yards in Sunday's game against the Texans. He's definitely someone to target for running back help, especially since we're in the middle of the bye-week stretch. Cedric Benson is out until at least Week 14 with a Lisfranc injury.

10/15/2012 10:03:00 AM
Description: Alex Green led the Packers in carries Sunday night against Houston. He finished the game with a season-high 65 yards on 22 carries.
Insight: It looks like he'll be the team's go-to back until Cedric Benson returns from injury. Green could be worth picking up on waivers if you're looking for a replacement running back or flex player for the bye week.

10/9/2012 12:02:00 PM
Description: Green Bay running back Alex Green ran well as a replacement for Cedric Benson and will likely get the starting job now that Benson is sidelined for up to eight weeks due to his ankle injury, but he may not get the same workload as Benson.
Insight: Coach Mike McCarthy may decide to use the dreaded RBBC for the Packers until Benson returns. Green will probably start, but James Starks will also play and John Kuhn could poach red zone opportunities.

10/8/2012 11:37:00 AM
Description: Green Bay running back Alex Green ran well as a replacement for Cedric Benson and will likely get the starting job if Benson is sidelined for any length of time due to his ankle injury.
Insight: Green rushed nine times for 55 yards - a 6.4 average. If Benson can't play this week, the Packers options are Green, James Starks (a healthy scratch on Sunday), fullback John Kuhn or using multi-talented Randall Cobb out of the backfield. Green could be worth picking up as a bye-week replacement.

8/5/2012 3:26:00 PM
Description: Though Green Bay running back Alex Green has had limited snaps coming off a knee injury, Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel said Green has been a more dynamic performer than James Starks so far.
Insight: Starks has received roughly three times as many snaps as Green, but McGinn said Green is the one who has stood out in training camp. The Packers didn't bring in a veteran running back to compete with Starks, so that should tell you they believe Green will be able to bounce back from his injury and contribute this season.
