Notes:
Considered the top defender available in this year's draft, Long was the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year in 2007...Was one of four finalists for the Lombardi (nation's outstanding lineman), Bronko Nagurski (nation's outstanding defensive player), and Ronnie Lott Trophies (outstanding college defensive player on and off the field) and earned the 2007 Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award...Long was also a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award which recognizes the nation's outstanding defensive player...The All-ACC First Team selection had a total of 14 sacks this pastseason to lead the Cavaliers (tying a single-season school record) and place third in the country with an average of just over one per game...Long was a Second Team All-ACC selection as a junior when he placed fourth on the team with 57 tackles as he often fought through double teams...Practiced against All-American D’Brickashaw Ferguson in 2005, which made him that much better and more dominant against weaker foes...Not only can Long dominate along the line, many see him as a possible linebacker in certain pro sets...Shows an abundance of moves that he combines with a quick burst of speed and incredible power...Long possesses a tireless motor that refuses to quit, just like his father Howie Long who played in the NFL for 13 seasons and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
