Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Daniel Sedin tied the game in the third period and Ryan Kesler scored the decisive goal in the eighth round of the shootout, as the Vancouver Canucks rallied to beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, at United Center.

Kesler, the 16th and final shooter, used a backhand-forehand deke to beat Blackhawks goalie Antti Raanta.

Eddie Lack allowed only one goal in the penalty shot tiebreaker after making 24 saves through overtime for the Canucks, who avoided going winless on a three-game road trip. They had opened December with seven consecutive wins before following up a shootout loss at Minnesota with a 4-1 setback in Dallas.

Patrick Kane remained red-hot for the Blackhawks, registering a goal and an assist to extend his point streak to 11 games. He has totaled six goals and 14 assists over that span.

"Sometimes it feels like somebody is flipping the coin to decide who wins," said Raanta, who stopped 22 shots.

Sedin's goal at 10:48 of the third drew the Canucks even at 2-2. He was at the side of the net when he stumbled collecting Kevin Bieksa's slap pass. While on his way to the ice, Sedin still managed to put the puck behind Raanta, who was tardy getting to the post.

The Blackhawks grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kris Versteeg, whose redirection of a Kane shot squirted through Lack 7:49 into the contest.

Kane made it 2-0 when he deposited a rebound at the 4:57 mark of the second period.

"I thought I let the first goal in a little cheap. I wanted to get it back and keep my team in it. We did a great job coming back from 2-0 and taking it to a shootout. It was a great game for sure," Lack said.

Zack Kassian put Vancouver on the board at 8:19 of the middle stanza. Kassian ripped a shot from the top of the left circle that deflected off a Chicago player and behind Raanta.

Game Notes

The Canucks won for the third time this season when trailing after two periods ... Chicago is now 18-0-2 when taking a lead into the third period ... The Canucks improved to 2-4 in shootouts, while Chicago fell to 4-4 ... Both teams were 0-for-4 on the power play. The Blackhawks had scored at least once with the man advantage in 10 straight games.
