NHL Game Summary - Edmonton at Vancouver

(Friday, December 13th)

Final Score: Vancouver 4, Edmonton 0

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Roberto Luongo stopped 19 shots en route to his 65th career shutout to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

"I felt pretty good, I wasn't getting much action," Luongo said.

Zack Kassian, Chris Higgins, Daniel Sedin and Dale Weise scored a goal apiece for the Canucks, who have won seven of their last eight. Jason Garrison had three assists and Ryan Kesler added two helpers in the win.

Devan Dubnyk stopped made 36 saves but all allowed four goals in the defeat for Edmonton, which will face Anaheim Sunday.

"We just couldn't ever get going it seemed like," Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins said.

A Philip Larsen boarding penalty 7:39 into the second period set up the Canucks for their first goal. Sedin found himself alone in the middle of the zone before Garrison passed the puck across to the top of the circle where Sedin slapped it through traffic to find the twine.

Only 2:26 into the third, Boyd Gordon carried the puck before Kassian rubbed him into the boards and off the disc. Kassian passed to David Booth, who brought the puck across the blue line and put a shot on net as he fell to the ice. Kassian hustled from mid-ice to the front of the net where he defected the shot home.

Vancouver fought the puck from behind their net all the way down the boards into the Oilers zone. Kesler skated low stick side of Dubnyk before he made a no look pass to Higgins, who snapped the shot through Dubnyk's five hole.

The Canucks ended the scoring with 34.8 seconds left in regulation on the power play. Yannick Weber put a slap shot on net from the top of the point and after the save, Weise slammed the puck home.

Game Notes

Weber, Booth and Mike Santorelli notched one assist apiece ... The Canucks have won a season-high six straight ... Vancouver is 11-1-1 in their last 13 home games against the Oilers ... The Canucks will host Boston Saturday.
