Setoguchi lifts Jets over Canucks

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Devin Setoguchi scored the game-winner with 2:56 to play as the Winnipeg Jets took a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.

Setoguchi scored twice while Zach Bogosian and Michael Frolik also scored for the Jets, who have won three of four. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 23 shots in the win.

"I think our execution was good at times, they played a really good game as far as controlling the puck in our end," said Setoguchi. "But we were able to have a little bit of poise and make the plays when we needed to be played and that's something that we can build forward here."

Ryan Kesler had a goal and two assists for the Canucks, who have dropped their past three. Eddie Lack allowed all four goals on 34 shots.

"Well, it was frustrating because we fought our way back into the game," said Vancouver assistant coach Mike Sullivan. "I give our guys credit for fighting back, but we've got to find a way to win that game."

Vancouver had tied the game at 11:50 of the first period on Jason Garrison's big bomb from the right point, but the Jets took the lead back inside of three minutes to play.

Jacob Trouba held the disc at the left point and looked to his right for a skating Setoguchi, who received the pass and wristed it through a maze for his 10th of the year.

From there, Pavelec made the stops he needed to and give Winnipeg the win.

Bogosian and Setoguchi scored just over a minute apart early in the first period to stake the Jets to a quick 2-0 lead, but Alexander Edler scored on the power play halfway through the frame to get Vancouver on the board.

Kesler and Frolik exchanged goals less than two minutes apart early in the second period to keep it a one-goal game heading into the third.
