NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Ottawa

(Sunday, March 30th)

Final Score: Ottawa 6, Calgary 3

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Turris had two goals and an assist as the Ottawa Senators scored three times in the third period to beat the Calgary Flames, 6-3, on Sunday.

Milan Michalek also scored twice for the Senators, who sit six points behind Columbus for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. Clarke MacArthur had a goal and an assist.

Robin Lehner stopped 37-of-40 shots for Ottawa, which has won two in a row.

"The first and third I thought were very good; I didn't like the team that came out in the second but it's a 60-minute game and I thought the way we started the game was very good," said Ottawa coach Paul MacLean. "The way we finished it, obviously we were very pleased with how we played the third period giving up six shots and the way that we were able to put the game away was good."

Matt Stajan, Paul Byron and Sean Monahan scored for the Flames, who started a five-game road trip on Sunday. Karri Ramo turned aside 31-of-36 shots.

Jared Cowen scored from the high slot at 1:12 of the third period to give the Senators a 4-3 lead.

MacArthur gave the home team a two-goal edge when he tipped in a pass from Turris at the 12:22 mark.

Turris scored an empty-net goal at 18:39 to account for the final margin.

Michalek's first goal of the game came at the 10:42 mark of the first period. He tipped in Erik Karlsson's one-timer from the right point.

Stajan tied the game at 13:23 when he lit the lamp from in close. Jiri Hudler set the play up with a pass from behind the net.

Michalek scored again with 22.7 seconds left in the first when he scored off a pass from Jason Spezza.

Byron lit the lamp from the slot at 3:59 of the middle stanza, making it a 2-2 contest.

Monahan gave the Flames the lead at 7:05 when he scored from the bottom of the right circle.

"I think obviously that's a relief, but at the end of the day it's a tough loss and I don't think it's a game we can lose," said Monahan, who scored his first goal in 12 games.

Turris scored from the high slot at 16:47 to make it a 3-3 game.
