Ducks thump Canucks, 9-1, in record-setting night

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry and Nick Bonino each scored two goals in the Anaheim Ducks' 9-1 thrashing of the Vancouver Canucks at Honda Center.

The Ducks set a club record for goals and power-play goals (6) in a single game.

Perry added two assists for Anaheim, which has won eight straight and 18 of its last 19 games. The Ducks won their 10th straight home game and are 20-0-2 at Honda Center this season.

Frederik Andersen got the start in net for an ill Jonas Hiller and made 31 saves. Hiller is tied for the second-longest winning streak in a single NHL season with 14 consecutive victories.

The Canucks have dropped seven of eight.

"Their power play kind of put the game away for them and the game kind of got away from us from there," said Vancouver defenseman Dan Hamhuis.

Joacim Eriksson's NHL debut will be memorable, but for all the wrong reasons as he allowed six goals on 31 shots in relief of Eddie Lack.

Both of Perry's goals were deflected in by Vancouver defensemen and his second made it 7-1 at 10:54 of the third period.

The Canucks, clearly frustrated by the lopsided score, were down two men for the final 7:11 of the game after forwards Jannik Hansen and Tom Sestito were both given instigator penalties, fighting majors and game misconducts.

Selanne and Sami Vatanen lit the lamp on the lengthy 5-on-3 power play.

"We didn't want to finish the game like that," Selanne said. "I know there were a couple of guys who had a chance to get a hat trick, but it's almost embarrassing to even try."

Andrew Cogliano opened the scoring 4:27 into the contest, collecting Jakob Silfverberg's pass while skating down the slot and beating Lack on the blocker side.

Selanne made it 2-0 when he deflected Vatanen's one-time blast on a power play with 2:03 remaining in the first period.

Perry had his sharp-angle shot go in off an opponent's stick at 3:58 of the second period, prompting a goalie swap.

Bonino then struck twice on the power play and Silfverberg also scored on a man advantage to give Anaheim a 6-0 lead before Zack Kassian put home a rebound before the second-period horn.
