Insight: On the same day Pittsburgh regains Patrick Hornqvist and Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins lose Letang. There is no indication as to how serious his injury is, but Letang's history would suggest the Penguins will be extremely cautious.

Insight: The lack of scoring is getting a little ridiculous for Pittsburgh. The Penguins have scored two goals in the last 12 periods. Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby and Patric Hornqvist haven't played in all of those 12 periods, but it is still embarrassing. Letang led the team with seven shots on Thursday. He has 11 goals and 42 assists with a plus-12 rating in 65 games this season.

Insight: Letang scored two goals and finished plus-three. His first goal came on a beautiful two-on-one opportunity with the Penguins short handed. Craig Adams chipped the puck to himself off the boards, which started the break and then found Letang in front of the net. Letang faked the forehand shot and quickly flipped a backhanded shot over Sergei Bobrovsky's glove. Letang's second goal tied the game at three with 10 seconds left in regulation. The defenseman also scored in the shoootout, but Pittsburgh lost, 4-3.

Insight: Letang missed significant time last season after suffering a stroke in January, but he returned for the playoffs. Letang is one of the best offensive defenseman in the league, and even with the addition of Christian Ehrhoff, who could take some time away from Letang on the power play, Letang is a top-15 defenseman.

Insight: He may not play his usual 24 minutes a game but Letang is always a strong fantasy option when healthy. Even without playing the last two months, he's still tied for the team lead in goals by a defenseman (ten).

Insight: Letang was not limited in any way at practice, though some of his teammates were hesitant to be physical with him and he had to urge them to hit him because he wanted to get used to contact again.
