NHL Game Summary - Carolina at Anaheim

(Sunday, March 2nd)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Carolina 3

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Corey Perry had two goals and an assist in the Anaheim Ducks' 5-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.

Francois Beauchemin, Andrew Cogliano and Jakob Silfverberg also scored for the Ducks, who have won three in a row. Frederik Andersen made 49 saves.

Andrej Sekera, Patrick Dwyer and Alexander Semin lit the lamp for the Hurricanes, who have dropped five straight. Cam Ward stopped 29-of-34 shots.

"Tonight we made a couple mistakes and they capitalized," Carolina coach Kirk Muller said. "They've got some good players and they scored, but defensively we have been pretty solid."

Perry was in the right place at the right time for his first goal of the game. Dustin Penner fanned on his shot but the puck went to Perry, who was wide open at the left post. The goal occurred at the 6:39 mark of the first period.

Beauchemin's slap shot from the right point made it 2-0 at 13:38.

Perry scored again at the 16:26 mark when his wrist shot from the left circle got past Ward.

"It's all about having good starts and jumping on your opponent," Perry said. "We played our style of game. Quick puck movement and getting in on the forecheck and creating chances. It proves it works."

Anaheim's offense continued to roll in the middle stanza. Cogliano's shot from the left circle snuck past Ward at 3:31. The shorthanded goal made it 4-0.

Silfverberg made it a five-goal game at 8:47 when he chopped the puck off the back of the net and swiped it in the goal.

Carolina finally got on the board at the 15:20 mark of the second. Sekera fought off Anaheim's Patrick Maroon before putting the puck past Andersen.

Dwyer and Semin scored in the third frame.
