Description: Sharks winger Patrick Marleau leads the NHL with nine power-play points.
Insight: Marleau has 15 points in his first 13 games. He got off to a similar start last year but that also was boosted by his work with the man advantage. Once San Jose's power-play cooled off, the 34-year-old did as well. He had just eight goals and nine assists (five PPP) in his final 42 games last season after scoring nine goals with five assists (nine PPP) in his first six. Fantasy owners should shop the veteran while his value is at its highest point.

Insight: One of Marleau's goals and the assist were on the power play. 5/12/2011 11:55:00 PM
Description: Patrick Marleau scored the game-winning goal in the Sharks' 3-2 win over Detroit in Game 7 on Thursday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Marleau had not recorded a point in this series, and he had been criticized heavily for an apparent lack of passion while the Sharks allowed a 3-0 series lead to slip away. Not only did Marleau score the game-winning goal, but he also made some key defensive plays in his own zone to preserve the victory.

5/11/2011 12:39:00 AM
Description: Patrick Marleau was held without a point and recorded just one shot on goal in the Sharks' 3-1 loss to Detroit in Game 6 on Tuesday. Sporting News
Insight: The Sharks were undoubtedly hoping for a better effort from Marleau after Game 5, when former teammate turned Versus analyst Jeremy Roenick termed Marleau's effort as "gutless." Marleau still doesn't have a point in this series, so JR's comments have to hold some truth at this very moment. Game 7 would be a great time for Marleau to prove otherwise.

5/9/2011 12:07:00 AM
Description: Following the Sharks' 4-3 loss to Detroit in Game 5 on Sunday, Sharks television analyst Jeremy Roenick called Patrick Marleau's performance "gutless." SB Nation
Insight: "A gutless, GUTLESS performance by Marleau tonight. But we'll talk about that later." Marleau has been held without a point during the five games against Detroit, although he posted five points (2g-3a) in six games against Los Angeles in the first round. Roenick was likely referring to the game-winning goal, when Marleau was stripped of the puck in his own zone by Pavel Datsyuk, who made Marleau look bad in skating around him and feeding a nice pass for the eventual game-winner. Marleau and the Sharks may still be leading the series, but they managed to cough up a 3-1 lead in this game and now face a Game 6 on the road against a playoff-tested Wings squad.
