NHL Game Summary - Boston at Anaheim

(Tuesday, January 7th)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, Boston 2

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mathieu Perreault scored twice to lead the red-hot Anaheim Ducks in a 5-2 win over the Boston Bruins.

Corey Perry and Nick Bonino each had a goal and an assist, while Andrew Cogliano supplied the other goal for the Ducks, who have won four straight, and 14 of their last 15. Jonas Hiller stopped 30 shots in the win.

"I think he's 12-0 or something during this and that's incredible when you think of the consistency he's showing," said Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau about Hiller. "You know, usually you have a clunker now and then, but he just keeps going."

Daniel Paille and Dougie Hamilton scored for the Bruins, who had won five of seven coming in. Tuukka Rask allowed all five goals on 20 shots in the loss.

"We felt like we played good and we were able to score some goals," said Rask. "In the third we were able to make it a one-goal game, but then it got away from us."

After a scoreless first period, the Ducks surged ahead with three goals in the second period.

The first two came on the power play, with the team taking a lead at 5:53 as Teemu Selanne carried the puck to the low right boards before centering it for Perreault, who one-timed it high into the net.

Less than three minutes later, it was a 2-0 game as a shot from the right circle by Bonino was stopped in front, but Perry slammed home the rebound for his 24th of the year.

The Ducks then made it a 3-0 game while shorthanded as a pass by Cogliano bounced into the air and to the front of the net where Daniel Winnik picked it up and sent it back to Cogliano for a one-timer at 17:10.

Boston, though, scored with 15.1 seconds left in the second as Justin Florek brought the puck down the right wing and fed it to the left for Paille, who shifted to the backhand and snuck it in.

It was a one-goal game 7:19 into the third as a flurry in front saw Hamilton bury the puck from the right circle.

Anaheim, though, used the man advantage to its benefit again as Ryan Getzlaf chased down his own dump-in in the right boards and centered it for Bonino, who one-timed it in for his 13th of the season.

Perreault scored with 2:31 to play to cap the scoring and pick up his fifth multi-goal game of his career.
