Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mikko Koivu scored the winner early in the third period as the Minnesota Wild rallied for a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.

Koivu and Zach Parise each had a goal and an assist and Matt Moulson also scored for the Wild, who have won their past two after dropping six of eight. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 18 shots in the win.

With 89 points, Minnesota has a comfortable five-point lead over Phoenix for the top wild card spot in the Western Conference.

"We should feel good about this game, and then we will focus on our next one," said Minnesota head coach Mike Yeo. "Beyond that nothing matters to me right now. I think that this is a game that our guys deserve to take the night here. We have a couple days before our next challenge, but I think they should feel good about this one."

Justin Williams had a goal and an assist and Alec Martinez added a marker for the Kings, who had a six-game winning streak broken, but finished March with a mark of 11-4-0. Jonathan Quick allowed all three goals on 20 shots.

Los Angeles is sitting in third place in the Pacific Division with 94 points.

Trailing by a goal, the Wild tied the game at 3:54 of the third as Jason Pominville sent a little backhand pass from behind the net to the right circle where Moulson one-timed it home for his 22nd of the year.

Just 1:02 later, the Wild took a 3-2 lead when Charlie Coyle held the puck at the left boards and flung it to the left circle for a one-timer by Koivu that beat Quick for his 10th of the season.

Bryzgalov needed to stop just five shots in the final frame to help the team to the victory.

"It simply wasn't good enough," said Williams. "We've had a tendency this last week or so to give up leads in the third and that's very uncharacteristic of us, so we need to rectify that in these last five or six games because we're a team that shuts it down once we get the lead."

The Kings scored the only goal of the first period as Anze Kopitar picked up the puck behind the net and from the deep right boards he fired a pass to the slot where Martinez wristed it home at 6:30.

Minnesota tied the game at 3:37 of the second on the power play when Koivu chipped a little pass from the left circle to the slot where Mikael Granlund's one-timer went to the right of the net and Parise tapped it home.

Los Angeles, though, took the lead back at 11:49 after the bouncing puck was picked up by Marian Gaborik and passed over to the left where Williams one- timed it home.

Minnesota wraps up its four-game road trip in Chicago on Thursday ... Los Angeles hosts Phoenix on Wednesday ... Minnesota took two of the three games against Los Angeles this season, with the road team winning all three games ... Los Angeles was 0-for-2 on the power play while Minnesota scored on its one chance.
