NHL Game Summary - Minnesota at Winnipeg

(Monday, April 7th)

Final Score: Minnesota 1, Winnipeg 0

Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Ilya Bryzgalov posted his second straight shutout with a 24-save effort and the Minnesota Wild inched closer to the playoffs with a 1-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

The victory all but seals up a playoff spot for Minnesota, which has 94 points and sits comfortably in the first wild-card spot, seven points ahead of idle Dallas, and eight points ahead of idle Phoenix.

Charlie Coyle notched the only goal of the game for the Wild, who have won four of five.

"Bryzgalov has been playing great for us, not even just this game," said Coyle. "He made some pretty big stops and kept us in the game, kept us with the lead. So it's nice to have a guy like that back there who we have confidence in, and I know he has confidence in us. It goes both ways. But he's been playing great for us."

Michael Hutchinson made 16 saves in his NHL debut for the Jets, who have lost four of six.

"Everyone hopes to play a game in the NHL every season but realistically I didn't think it'd be possible. I'm very fortunate to have been in some good situations and I was able to play well this year and I was just happy to get a shot."

The only goal of this game came in the second period at 1:05, as Mikko Koivu fed the puck from the right boards to the side of the net where Zach Parise pushed it to the right circle and Coyle one-timed it in for his 12th of the year.

Bryzgalov stopped 12 shots through the first two periods, then made 12 more saves in the third, helping to kill off a Nate Prosser hooking penalty at 14:28.
