Description: Flames rookie forward Sean Monahan will remain with the team this season, according to Sportsnet.ca.
Insight: A junior-eligible player is allowed to play up to nine games in the NHL without it counting against a year of his entry-level contract, but the Flames have chosen to keep him with the big club. The sixth-overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft had six goals and nine points in his first nine games, so the decision isn't a surprise.

Description: Flames rookie forward Sean Monahan has scored a goal in four straight games and had the game-winner Friday against the Devils.
Insight: The No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 draft has six points in his first five NHL games and is already being viewed as the team's "go-to guy" by defenseman Mark Giordano and coach Bob Hartley, according to the Calgary Herald. With Monahan, Tomas Hertl, Nathan MacKinnon, and Aleksander Barkov all excelling and Seth Jones playing a key role already, this year's rookie class has a chance to be very special.
