Blue Jackets re-sign Savard

Columbus, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Blue Jackets have re-signed defenseman David Savard to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Savard scored five goals and added 10 assists in 70 games for the Blue Jackets last season. He ranked fourth on the club in blocked shots with 81 and chipped in four assists in six playoff games.

The 23-year-old Quebec native has seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points in 105 career NHL games. He was selected by Columbus with a third-round pick in the 2009 NHL Draft.
