NHL Game Summary - Pittsburgh at Boston

(Monday, November 25th)

Final Score: Boston 4, Pittsburgh 3 (OT)

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Torey Krug scored the game-winner 34 seconds into overtime as the Boston Bruins shook off Sidney Crosby's buzzer-beating goal in regulation to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 4-3, at TD Garden.

Crosby scored the tying goal with 0.3 seconds left in regulation after Zdeno Chara had given Boston a 3-2 lead with 5:15 remaining on a shot Crosby tipped into his own net.

In overtime, Krug skated unchecked into the left circle and rifled a slap shot that beat Marc-Andre Fleury high to the far side, moving the Bruins to 8-1-1 in their last 10 games.

The Atlantic Division leaders also got goals from Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith and 28 saves from Tuukka Rask.

James Neal scored two goals and Fleury had 20 saves for the Metropolitan Division-leading Penguins, who have lost two in a row.

It was the Penguins' first trip to Boston since they were swept in the Eastern Conference finals last season. They beat Boston, 3-2, at home on Oct. 30.

On the tying goal, Crosby was left alone on the low right side -- in perfect position to jam the puck in after Chris Kunitz's spinning backhand from the slot slipped through.

The play was reviewed and upheld as a goal. Afterward, Rask explained his reaction to it.

"You think, 'Really? This happened?'" said Rask. "But the game goes on so you can't think about it too much."

Neal's second goal, on a one-timer from the left circle that beat Rask's glove on the far side, tied the game at 2-2 with 9:51 left in the third period.

Moments before Chara's goal, Fleury made back-to-back saves on Dougie Hamilton's slap shot and Jarome Iginla's backhand rebound.

But Fleury was blocked by Crosby in front when Chara flipped the puck toward the net from just inside the blue line on the high right side to give Boston a one-goal lead.

Crosby tried to knock the puck down, but ended up deflecting it in.

"It was good that we were able to tie it up, but it was a bad mistake on my part trying to get my stick on (Chara's shot)," said Crosby. "I shouldn't have been in that situation."

Earlier, Eriksson opened the scoring 12:27 into the game after he got behind the defense on a 3-on-2. Smith's power play goal on a one-timer from the slot made it 2-0 just over three minutes later.

Neal scored on a wrister from the slot 37 seconds into the second period off a pass from Jussi Jokinen in the right circle.

Game Notes

Eriksson and Carl Soderberg both had two assists for Boston ... Neal added an assist and Jokinen had two helpers for the Penguins ... The Bruins went 2-0-1 on a three-game homestand and will play at Detroit on Wednesday ... The Penguins are home vs. Toronto on Wednesday.
