NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Sunday, November 17th (All times Eastern)

Dallas Stars (10-7-2) at Vancouver Canucks (11-7-3), 8 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Stars acquired Tyler Seguin this past offseason hoping he would add a boost to their offense.

He's making it look easy right now.

Coming off his first career four-goal game, Seguin will try to lead the Stars to a third straight win on Sunday night in a matchup with the Vancouver Canucks.

Seguin scored 56 goals and notched 121 points in three seasons with the Boston Bruins after they selected him second overall in the 2010 draft. He was then dealt to the Stars in a seven-player deal on July 4 and has been a solid contributor since.

The 21-year-old has scored a goal in three straight contests, including his barrage in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Calgary Flames. He added an assist as well, while Jamie Benn logged a six-point night with a goal and five assists.

Seguin notched the second hat trick of his career and has posted 12 goals with 22 points in 19 games this season, while Benn has seven goals and 22 points in that span.

"It's hard to score in this league, but sometimes you get your bounces. I was really happy with our effort tonight, especially on a back-to-back," said Seguin, who had scored an empty-net tally the previous night in Edmonton.

Benn became the first Stars skater to have a six-point game since Mike Modano in 1995, while Alex Goligoski added three assists. Kari Lehtonen ended with 25 saves as Dallas won for the fifth time in six games overall and its fifth straight on the road.

The Stars look to wrap a perfect three-game swing through Western Canada tonight against a Canucks club that dropped the opener of a six-game homestand in disappointing fashion on Thursday.

Facing the San Jose Sharks, Vancouver yielded the game-tying goal with 1:05 to go in regulation, then saw Henrik Sedin take a hooking penalty in overtime that led to the Sharks' game-winning goal in a 2-1 outcome.

Kevin Bieksa had the lone goal of the game for the Canucks, who have lost their past three and fell to 2-3-2 in their last seven. Roberto Luongo gave up both goals on 30 shots.

"It's a kick in the teeth to lose it," Canucks head coach John Tortorella said.

Forward Jannik Hansen is in line to play for Vancouver tonight for the first time in 11 games, having been out with a shoulder injury suffered when he crashed into the boards during a game on Oct. 22.

Though the Canucks have won 12 of their previous 17 versus the Stars, including six of the past eight at home, the Stars took two of three in the series last season.

Luongo is 13-5-3 with a 2.14 goals against average in his career versus the Stars, while Lehtonen is 3-7-0 with a 3.32 GAA in 11 meetings with the Canucks.
