Sens get past Habs thanks to OT power-play marker

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Clarke MacArthur's power-play strike at 58 seconds of overtime lifted Ottawa over Montreal, 4-3, at Bell Centre.

The Senators were gifted a power play with 19 seconds left in regulation when Canadiens defenseman PK Subban held off Erik Condra at the side of the Habs' net.

Ottawa had control in the hosts' zone during the resulting 4-on-3 situation, with MacArthur whipping the game-winning shot inside the near post from the right wing.

Colin Greening, Condra and Mark Stone also tallied for the Senators, who have won four in a row for the first time all season.

Craig Anderson came up with 26 saves to help Ottawa recover from blowing a two-goal advantage.

"Special teams was huge for us tonight. We got the early lead and we go down 5-on-3, but we were able to kill that off," Anderson noted. "Condra's line kept us in the game all night."

Danny Briere scored twice and Brian Gionta once for the Canadiens, who picked up a point for the third straight game (1-0-2) despite a 3-1 first-period deficit. Carey Price stopped 30 shots in the loss.

Price was beaten on the first shot he faced, from Greening only 13 seconds after the opening faceoff.

Briere evened the score on a shot with 8:28 left, but Stone split two Habs defenders up the middle and beat Price on the backhand for his first career score and a Condra shot caromed off Habs defenseman Andrei Markov's skate and in to give the Sens a 3-1 edge on scores separated by 14 seconds.

Montreal crawled within 3-2 as Briere scored before the two-minute mark of the third period, then the hosts' captain evened the game at 4:46.

"It was about time for me to help this team. When you have good feelings, something good usually happens," Briere said about his offensive output.

Game Notes

Ottawa has won both meetings against Montreal this season and four of the last six ... Briere posted his first multi-goal effort since tallying twice in a 7-0 Flyers win against the Islanders on Feb. 18.
