NHL Game Summary - Calgary at Edmonton

(Saturday, March 22nd)

Final Score: Calgary 8, Edmonton 1

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Curtis Glencross notched his third career hat trick as the Calgary Flames dominated the Edmonton Oilers, 8-1, on Saturday.

Matt Stajan had a goal and three assists while Mike Cammalleri gave a goal and two assists for the Flames, who set a season-high in goals and won for a fourth time in the past six games. Karri Ramo stopped 24 shots in the win.

"We wanted to redeem ourselves from last night's game," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said of his team's offensive outburst.

Ramo had missed the past 15 games as he had been out since early February with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Jeff Petry scored the only goal of the game for the Oilers, who have dropped their past two. Viktor Fasth was pulled from the start after giving up five goals on 16 shots, with Ben Scrivens allowing three goals on 15 shots.

"I apologize to the fans who had to watch that," Edmonton head coach Dallas Eakins said. "It was painful on the bench and painful for our great fans."

Edmonton scored the first goal of this game at 4:34 as Petry got one past Ramo on the power play, but Mark Giordano answered four minutes later to send the game into the first intermission tied.

Calgary then took control of the game with four goals over a 3:05 span in the second period.

Cammalleri was the first to score with his 23rd goal at 4:13, and Stajan was awarded a penalty shot 1:07 later, dekeing to the backhand and lifting the puck into the right corner.

Just 40 seconds later, Paul Byron scored on a 2-on-1 break after Cammalleri passed it from the left to the right, and Glencross made it a 5-1 game at 7:18 with a wrister from the left wing.

Glencross scored at 4:50 of the third, and Kevin Westgarth lit the lamp 37 seconds later on a re-direct from Tyler Wotherspoon for a 7-1 advantage.

Glencross capped the hat trick and made it an 8-1 game when he blasted a big slap shot from the left circle with 7:01 to play in the game.
