NHL Game Summary - Chicago at Calgary

(Wednesday, November 27th)

Final Score: Chicago 3, Calgary 2

Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Patrick Kane scored two third period goals and goaltender Antti Raanta won his first career game as the Chicago Blackhawks came back late to defeat the Calgary Flames, 3-2, at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Kane notched the game-winner with 18 seconds remaining. Niklas Hjalmarsson fired a shot from the point that deflected off a Calgary defender. The puck went right to Kane, who turned around and fired a backhander that beat Retto Berra.

"Obviously we got a break on the goal and we seemed to be energized by it. We caught a big break in the third there and had an opportunity," said Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville.

Patrick Sharp had the other goal and Hjalmarsson contributed two assists in the win. Raanta turned away 20 shots in his first career start.

Matt Stajan and Sean Monahan accounted for Calgary's two goals, while Berra made 28 saves for the Flames, who have lost two of their last three.

"You make a few mistakes and they are so skilled they will make you pay for it and it's too bad because I thought we played very well and we showed up to play. I thought our players minus a few bad decisions in that third period, we played a great game," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley on his team's performance.

Calgary opened the scoring at 13:32 of the second. Lance Bouma kept the puck in the zone and dished a pass across the ice from the left circle to Stajan, who blasted a one-timer past Raanta.

Jiri Hudler took the puck through the neutral zone and sent the puck to Monahan. Raanta came to the top of his crease to challenge him, but the rookie used his quick release and wristed the puck over Raanta's glove to give the Flames a 2-0 lead two minutes into the third.

Kane started the Chicago comeback at 9:42 of the third. Brandon Saad entered the zone and found Kane, who fired a shot from a severe angle off the stick of Kris Russell and past Berra into the net.

Chicago tied the game less than a minute later. Marion Hossa skated through the neutral zone up the right wing and cut across Calgary's zone before dishing a cross-ice pass to Sharp, who was in the slot to tip the puck past Berra.

Game Notes

Kane extended his point streak to 12 games ... The Flames recalled center Max Reinhart from Abbotsford and placed forward T.J. Galiardi on injured reserve prior to the game ... Chicago has won four of the last five games over Calgary.
