Description: Minnesota winger Matt Cooke will miss the remainder of the Western Conference Quarterfinal against Colorado due to a seven-game suspension.
Insight: Cooke was suspended for a hit on Colorado's Tyson Barrie. He had 10 goals, 18 assists on 104 SOG this season.

Description: Pittsburgh left wing Matt Cooke put the puck in the net twice Saturday against Montreal.
Insight: It's easy for Cooke to get overshadowed amidst all the superstars on the Penguins' top line but he can still rack up points when given the opportunity. Fantasy owners should also take notice of Cooke's 22 penalty minutes this season.

Description: Matt Cooke scored two goals - one powerplay and one shorthanded - in the Penguins' 4-3 shootout win over Vancouver on Thursday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Cooker seemed to learn his lesson from last year's lengthy season-ending suspension, as he played a much cleaner game and even contributed on the scoresheet. He won't suddenly turn into an offensive force, but let's at least hope that the cheap shots are now a thing of the past.

3/21/2011 5:27:00 PM
Description: Matt Cooke has been suspended for the rest of the regular season (10 games) plus the first round of the playoffs for elbowing Ryan McDonagh on Sunday. TSN
Insight: The NHL has come down harder on Cooke, given his suspension history (five suspensions) and his penchant for dirty play. By issuing a suspension lengthier than normal, hopefully the NHL has sent the message that Cooke's antics are not welcome.

3/20/2011 4:32:00 PM
Description: Matt Cooke was handed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for an elbow to the head of Ryan McDonagh during the third period of Sunday's Rangers/Penguins game. TSN
Insight: Cooke will no doubt face suspension, not only for the action itself but also for his reputation of attempts to injure opposing players. Penguins owner Mario Lemieux should have a fireside chat with Cooke about his on-ice behavior before he comments on the state of hockey again in the future.

2/9/2011 5:06:00 PM
Description: The NHL has suspended Penguins forward Matt Cooke four games for his hit from behind on Blue Jackets defenseman Fedor Tyutin during Tuesday's game. TSN
Insight: Cooke was overdue for a suspension, as he should have been suspended for his blindside hit to Marc Savard and could have been suspended for his knee-on-knee to Alex Ovechkin on Sunday. Cooke has to be the league's dirtiest player right now, and his antics are becoming tiresome to watch considering the number of needless injuries that have occured this season.
