NHL Game Summary - Dallas at Minnesota

(Saturday, January 18th)

Final Score: Minnesota 3, Dallas 2 (OT)

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Nate Prosser's strike with 2:18 remaining in overtime lifted Minnesota over Dallas at Xcel Energy Center.

Charlie Coyle did most of the work prior to the score, winning a battle behind the net and dishing to Nino Niederreiter in between the circles. His shot was turned away, but the rebound kicked out to Prosser, who made no mistake on the game decider.

"I'm at an all-time high. I can't believe what just happened," said Prosser, a native of Elk River, MN, which was selected to host Saturday's annual "Hockey Day Minnesota."

Erik Haula and Ryan Suter also tallied for the Wild, who have won two in a row and seven of their last nine. Darcy Kuemper aided the effort with 33 saves.

Ryan Garbutt and Alex Chiasson scored for the Stars, who skidded to their eighth loss in nine outings. Kari Lehtonen made just 16 stops in defeat.

Haula -- a former University of Minnesota product -- picked up his first career tally at 7:11 of the first period on a solo rush.

Garbutt evened the contest at 11:57 of the second on a rebound try, but a Suter wrister from the left point caromed off a Dallas player in front and past Lehtonen with 5:51 left in the period.

The Stars responded on the advantage at 9:32 of the third, when Chiasson's poke at a puck in the crease during a scramble eluded Kuemper.

"It's disappointing," Chiasson said. "This was probably one of our best games defensively, as far as scoring chances given to the other team. We battled through and it would've been nice to get a win here."

Game Notes

Prosser had just one goal in 95 previous NHL games, but has recorded the game- winning tally in consecutive contests ... Dallas plays in Nashville on Monday, and Minnesota rests until heading to Dallas on Tuesday ... Stars defenseman Trevor Daley, along with forwards Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn were a game- worst minus-2.
