NHL Game Summary - Boston at Buffalo

(Wednesday, February 26th)

Final Score: Buffalo 5, Boston 4 (OT)

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt D'Agostini scored 22 seconds into overtime to lift the Buffalo Sabres over the Boston Bruins, 5-4, on Wednesday.

D'Agostini outraced Zdeno Chara to a loose puck before putting a backhander past Chad Johnson.

"It feels good to just contribute," D'Agostini said. "You get your chances and playing good is one thing, but to get a goal to help the team win feels pretty good."

Zemgus Girgensons and Brian Flynn each had a goal and an assist for the Sabres, who have won two in a row. Tyler Myers and Matt Moulson also lit the lamp.

Jhonas Enroth stopped 29-of-33 shots in the victory.

Milan Lucic had a goal and an assist for the Bruins, who played their first game since Feb. 8 due to the Olympic break. Chris Kelly, Chara and Brad Marchand also scored.

Johnson turned aside 21-of-26 shots in defeat.

"Yeah, I thought offensively, I didn't mind our game," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. "I thought we moved the puck well, and we had some good offensive zone time and we scored four goals. We should win those kinds of games, but certainly we were definitely rusty defensively."

The Sabres sent the game into overtime when Moulson jammed home a rebound with 53 seconds left in the third period.

Buffalo took a 1-0 lead at 3:32 of the first period. Flynn won a battle for the puck in the corner before finding Girgensons all alone in the slot.

Boston tied the game at 10:47 when Carl Soderberg's pass from behind the net resulted in Kelly's goal from the bottom of the left circle.

The Sabres jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the middle stanza. Myers scored on the power play at 6:25 and Flynn lit the lamp at the 9:10 mark.

The Bruins responded with two goals of their own in the period. Chara put home a rebound at 11:01 and Marchand scored off a pass from Reilly Smith at the 17:46 mark.

Lucic's slap shot from the top of the left circle at 9:43 of the third made it 4-3 Boston.

Game Notes

Buffalo and Boston have split four games this season ... Sabres forward Tyler Ennis (body soreness) missed the game ...
