NHL Game Summary - Anaheim at St. Louis

(Saturday, December 7th)

Final Score: Anaheim 5, St. Louis 2

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Cogliano scored a pair of goals and Frederik Andersen made 26 saves, as Anaheim rode an early three-goal burst to dispatch St. Louis, 5-2, at Scottrade Center.

Nick Bonino and Ryan Getzlaf each contributed a score and a helper for the Ducks, who beat the top two teams in the Central Division on the road in consecutive games.

"We feel like we're an elite team," Getzlaf said.

Jaden Schwartz and Patrik Berglund tallied for the Blues, who have dropped three of four.

Jaroslav Halak was pulled after giving up three goals on eight shots in 7 1/2 minutes of action. Brian Elliott finished the contest with 13 stops.

"I need to look at myself and everybody else needs to probably find the answers," Halak said.

St. Louis mounted a charge in the third period, cutting its deficit in half.

Schwartz put the hosts on the board when he followed Oshie and tapped home his cross-crease feed from the left post at 1:18. and Berglund picked up a puck off a broken play in the middle of the Anaheim zone and scored on the forehand with 6:38 elapsed.

That was all for the Blues, who pulled Elliott with over two minutes left and saw Cogliano cap the victory on a score with 1:48 to play.

Cogliano opened the scoring just 70 seconds after the opening faceoff when his attempted centering feed for Saku Koivu at the right post skittered in.

Perry doubled the visitors' edge on a power play with 5:36 elapsed by tipping in a Getzlaf shot and Getzlaf himself made it 3-0 with his strike at 7:29 on a brilliant individual effort. He batted down a cross-ice pass from David Backes at center ice, skated in and scored with a drive from the right wing.

Bonino extended the Ducks' lead to 4-0 on the lone goal of the second period, coming at the 17:16 mark. Andersen made sure the lead held with eight saves.

Game Notes

Anaheim has won two of its last three games in St. Louis, and posted its first regulation win in the Gateway City since a 4-3 decision on Dec. 28, 2008 ... Cogliano posted his first multi-goal effort since recording a hat trick in a 5-4 road loss against the Coyotes on Mar. 2.
