NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Thursday, November 7th (All times Eastern)

Edmonton Oilers (4-10-2) at Tampa Bay Lightning (10-4-0), 7:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Lightning know they are going to get their goals from sniper Steven Stamkos.

The Edmonton Oilers got scoring from some unknown players to snap their recent skid.

The Oilers hope to follow up with a second straight win on Thursday night as they visit the Lightning to continue a four-game road trip.

Edmonton opened its trip against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday on its second five-game losing streak of the season. However, both Mark Arcobello and Taylor Fedun scored their first NHL goals and Arcobello added his second 1:55 into overtime for a game-winner.

Arcobello came into the game with a team-high 10 assists, but the undrafted 25-year-old forward scored twice in his 17th NHL game.

"To help the team win is the biggest thing. It's nice to be able to contribute," Arcobello said.

Fedun, an undrafted defenseman, was making his NHL debut, while fellow blueliner Philip Larsen added his first goal of the season.

"It was awesome to get out there in the first place and then to have the opportunity to score was amazing," Fedun remarked.

Devan Dubnyk, back after missing three games with an ankle injury, made 20 saves, Boyd Gordon had three assists and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added a pair of helpers. He is tied with Arcobello for the club lead with 12 points.

Stamkos, meanwhile, notched his 11th goal and 20th point of the season in Saturday's 4-2 win over St. Louis, putting him among the league leaders in both categories. He has a goal in four straight games and has scored twice in four previous meetings with the Oilers.

Alex Killorn added a goal and two assists versus the Blues, while Brett Connolly and Valtteri Filppula added goals as well. Ben Bishop made 28 saves to improve to 9-2-0 on the season.

"You look at their record and you know they've done very well," Killorn said of the Blues, who lost in regulation for just the second time this season. "We played them in the preseason so we knew what to expect. It's nice to get a win over a team of that caliber."

The victory was Tampa Bay's second straight and fifth in the past six games.

The Lightning snapped a three-game slide to the Oilers with a 3-2 shootout win at home on March 22, 2012 and have won three of the past four meetings at home.

Bishop won his only previous start against Edmonton, notching a 39-save shutout on Feb. 25, 2011 while with St. Louis.

Dubnyk has never faced the Lightning.
