Description: San Jose winger Raffi Torres will miss the first few months of the season because of an infection he developed after surgery to his right knee according to David Pollack of Mercury News.
Insight: Torres had another surgery on his knee due to the infection. He missed most of last season while recovering from a torn ACL.

Description: San Jose left wing Raffi Torres (sore right knee) isn't expected to play Friday.
Insight: After undergoing offseason knee surgery to repair a torn right ACL, Torres didn't make his season debut until Feb. 27 and he played just five games before experiencing soreness. He last played on March 8.

Description: San Jose left wing Raffi Torres (sore right knee) could be back Wednesday, according to nhl.com.
Insight: After undergoing offseason knee surgery to repair a torn right ACL, Torres didn't make his season debut until Feb. 27 and he played just five games before experiencing soreness.

Description: San Jose left wing Raffi Torres (sore right knee) has missed seven straight games.
Insight: After undergoing offseason knee surgery to repair a torn right ACL, Torres didn't make his season debut until Feb. 27. While he produced three goals and two assists in five games before getting knocked out with knee soreness, there's no reason to hold onto him. He hasn't been a high-scoring forward in his career.

Description: San Jose left wing Raffi Torres is expected to play Sunday against the Rangers. Torres has been out with general soreness. SOURCE: San Jose Mercury News
Insight: Offseason knee surgery has limited Torres to just five games this season. In those five contests, Torres (three goals, two assists) has averaged ten and a half minutes of ice time per game. Torres is owned in only 1.1 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues.

3/11/2014 6:47:00 PM
Description: Sharks left wing Raffi Torres (soreness) will be a game-time decision Tuesday, according to csnbayarea.com.
Insight: Torres has picked up three goals and two assists as well as seven PIM and nine SOG in five games since he returned from a torn ACL, but fantasy owners shouldn't expect that scoring pace to continue.

2/27/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Sharks left wing Raffi Torres (surgery to repair a torn ACL in September) scored two goals in his season debut Thursday against the Flyers.
Insight: Everything was going in for San Jose Thursday, as the Sharks put seven goals on the board. The 32-year-old Torres' career-high in points is 41, and that came back in 2005-06. Don't bother picking him up.

2/27/2014 2:56:00 PM
Description: Sharks left wing Raffi Torres (surgery to repair a torn ACL in September) is expected to be activated from injured reserve for Thursday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: He was expected to miss 3-to-5 months and that's what happened. He's only scored over 40 points in one season (2005) and at this point has no fantasy value.

Description: Sharks left wing Raffi Torres had surgery to repair a torn ACL on Thursday. SOURCE: Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area
Insight: He's expected to miss 3-to-5 months at the minimum. Torres isn't worth stashing in any fantasy leagues.

Description: San Jose left wing Raffi Torres suffered an ACL injury in Friday's preseason game and could be sidelined for up to four months. SOURCE: Comcast Bay Area
Insight: Torres might be back sooner if he can avoid surgery but that seems unlikely. Torres produced seven goals and 11 assists last season.

5/16/2013 8:18:00 PM
Description: Sharks left wing Raffi Torres has been suspended for the remainder of the series after injuring Kings center Jarret Stoll in Game 1.
Insight: Torres delivered a vicious hit on Stoll's head Tuesday in the series opener. Torres has scored one goal in five postseason games.

2/2/2013 10:22:00 AM
Description: Phoenix Coyotes winger Raffi Torres is eligible to return from his suspension on Feb. 2 against Dallas.
Insight: Torres has averaged 30 points over the past three seasons and also gives his fantasy owners around 100 shots on goal and decent penalty minutes. He could have some low-end fantasy value when he returns.

Description: Phoenix Coyotes winger Raffi Torres will be eligible to return from his suspension on Feb. 2 against Dallas.

7/1/2011 1:20:00 PM
Description: The Phoenix Coyotes have signed Raffi Torres to a two-year contract worth $1.75 million per season. The Coyotes have also signed forward Boyd Gordon and goalie Mike Smith. TSN
Insight: Torres will provide some physical play and goal scoring for the Coyotes, probably on the team's second or third line. He scored 29 points (14g-15a) for the Canucks last season. Meanwhile, Smith will probably compete with Jason LaBarbera for the team's starting goalie job.

6/2/2011 12:34:00 AM
Description: Raffi Torres scored the game-winning goal with 18.5 seconds left to play in regulation in the Canucks' 1-0 win over Boston in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Torres took a nice pass from Jannik Hansen, who received the puck via a solid play from Ryan Kesler to keep the play from going offside. Torres has hardly been an offensive force in the playoffs with just three goals and two assists, but he has provided a spark for the Canucks with his physical play.

4/18/2011 1:21:00 PM
Description: Raffi Torres will not be suspended for his hit to the head of Brent Seabrook during Game 3 on Sunday. TSN
Insight: Many observers felt that a suspension was inevitable given Torres' recent suspension and the force of the hit. However, Rule 48 cites that the area behind the net is a "hitting area." Seabrook did not adequately defend himself prior to the hit, which is why the Canucks believed that the hit was a good hockey play. Regardless, the NHL's wheel of justice spun in Torres' favor.

4/17/2011 11:08:00 PM
Description: Raffi Torres could face a suspension following his blindside hit to the head of Brent Seabrook during the second period of Game 3 on Sunday. ESPN Chicago
Insight: Torres returned on Sunday from a four-game suspension for a similar hit to Jordan Eberle, so he obviously didn't learn his lesson. The NHL tends to penalize repeat offenders more heavily, so expect Torres to serve multiple games yet again. He only received a two-minute minor for interference on the play, although the Blackhawks thought he deserved more.

4/7/2011 2:43:00 PM
Description: The NHL has suspended Canucks forward Raffi Torres four games for his check to the head of Jordan Eberle during Tuesday's game. Sportsnet
Insight: Torres received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the headshot, while Eberle did not leave the game. Torres will miss the Canucks' final two games along with their first two playoff games. The fact that the Canucks' final two games are not meaningful may have accounted for the length of the suspension.

4/6/2011 3:13:00 PM
Description: Raffi Torres will have a Thursday disciplinary hearing with the NHL regarding his hit to the head of Jordan Eberle during Tuesday's game. TSN
Insight: Torres received a five-minute major and a game misconduct for the hit. We'd be willing to bet that he receives a two-game suspension.

2/20/2011 1:45:00 AM
Description: Raffi Torres scored two goals with five penalty minutes and a +2 in the Canucks' 5-2 win over Dallas on Saturday. Yahoo Sports
Insight: Torres only needed an assist to earn a Gordie Howe hat trick, thanks to his two goals and his first-period fight with Brenden Morrow. Torres scored his last goal on December 31, also against the Stars, so he had gone nearly two months without a goal. Hopefully Raffi hasn't been on your fantasy team all this time, but keep in mind that he is a notoriously streaky scorer.
