NHL Game Summary - Columbus at Nashville

(Saturday, March 8th)

Final Score: Columbus 1, Nashville 0

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves and Artem Anisimov tallied the game's lone goal as the Columbus Blue Jackets shut out the Nashville Predators, 1-0, on Saturday.

Anisimov entered the neutral zone on the rush and dropped a pass back to James Wisniewski. The defenseman quickly pushed the puck back up to Anisimov, who rushed in on net with a power move and backhanded a shot past Nashville netminder Pekka Rinne.

"I thought the guys were great tonight," said Blue Jackets head coach Todd Richards. "First period they (Predators) came out hard and kind of put us on our heels a little bit. We had some guys step up and make plays. I thought after that point our guys did a great job."

Corey Tropp and Wisniewski picked up the helpers on Anisimov's 19th of the season that set a new career-high for the forward and gave the Blue Jackets their fourth win in their past five games.

Rinne turned aside 35 shots, but received no offensive support as the Predators dropped their fourth straight game and seventh of their last eight contests.

"We played strong as a team, we never quit," said Rinne. "It's a good sign, but obviously right now the only thing we care about is getting points."

Columbus had a good opportunity to break the scoreless deadlock in the second after Viktor Stalberg took a double minor for high-sticking R.J. Umberger, but the Predators successfully killed off the four-minute penalty.

Nashville pulled Rinne with under two minutes remaining, but could not capitalize on multiple scoring chances with the extra man. Shea Weber's shot was blocked and Fisher's turn-around attempt hit the far post. Colin Wilson then missed an empty net on a wrister that Bobrovsky quickly smothered.

Game Notes

Bobrovsky earned his third shutout of the season ... Anisimov has six goals in his last six games ... The Blue Jackets announced earlier on Saturday that defenseman Ryan Murray would miss 4-to-6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery ... Nashville outshot the Columbus, 14-5, in the first, and the Blue Jackets held a 15-4 shot advantage in the second.
