NHL Preview from The Sports Network

Monday, October 21st (All times Eastern)

Calgary Flames (3-2-2) at Los Angeles Kings (6-3-0), 10:30 p.m.

(SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Kings look to stay hot on offense Monday night when they resume their homestand in a meeting with the Calgary Flames.

The Kings kicked off a four-game stay at home with Saturday's 5-2 victory over Dallas, with five different skaters logging multiple-point games. Justin Williams and Anze Kopitar paced the club with three points each.

Williams had a two goals and an assist, which came on Drew Doughty's go-ahead goal early in the third period. Kopitar had three assists, while Matt Greene and Kyle Clifford also scored.

"I certainly wanted to get that third (goal). I wanted to see the ice littered with hats, but the most important thing is we won and we won on home ice," Williams said.

The Kings were playing just their third home game of the season and were coming off a four-game road trip in which they went 3-1 despite scoring just eight goals.

Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for the Kings. He has solid career numbers against the Flames, going 8-4-1 with a 1.52 goals against average and one shutout in 13 games.

Calgary has lost the first two contests of a five-game road trip and is coming off Saturday's 6-3 setback to San Jose. Rookie center Sean Monahan, the sixth overall pick of the 2013 draft, netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season and had an assist, but Karri Ramo was touched for five goals on 35 shots.

The Flames allowed three goals while shorthanded.

"It was the worst game we've played. We made some bad decisions that cost us some goals. We made bad decisions and went to the box for unnecessary reasons and there was a little bad luck," Calgary head coach Bob Hartley said.

Mikael Backlund and Jiri Hudler also scored. Hudler has a point in all seven games this season, logging four goals and five assists.

Ramo is expected to get the start tonight, his first ever versus the Kings, while Joey MacDonald is slated to get the call in net on Tuesday in Phoenix.

Flames winger Mike Cammalleri has been sidelined since early in the preseason with an upper-body injury, but joined his club in Los Angeles for practice on Sunday. He led the Flames with 32 points in 44 games last year, potting 13 goals.

"It was fantastic to be out there with the guys again. It's been quite awhile," said Cammalleri. "If I think about it, one exhibition game since May. It's been a lot of just skating by myself out there and it was a lot of fun to snap it around out there with the boys."

It is unknown if Cammalleri will be able to make his season debut tonight as he remains day-to-day.

The Flames have lost four straight and eight of their past 10 versus the Kings, getting outscored 12-4 in losing all three meetings a season ago.

Los Angeles has won five of the past seven encounters between the clubs on home ice.
