No. 1 North Carolina scored in each of the first three innings en route to a 7-1 win over Coastal Carolina Monday at Boshamer Stadium.

Carolina jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three frames with single runs in the first and third innings. Colin Moranplated Chaz Frank with a sacrifice fly in the first before Cody Stubbs added a sacrifice fly of his own in the third.

The Tar Heels broke the game open in the second when Stubbs opened with a line-drive double over the right fielder's head and Landon Lassiter walked. The pair moved into scoring position when Parks Jordandropped down a sacrifice bunt.

Following a Brian Holberton walk that loaded the bases, Matt Roberts hit a shallow fly to left field but not deep enough to score Stubbs from third.

Chaz Frank delivered the big hit of the inning when he turned on a Tyler Poole offering and sent a ball down the right field line and into the corner. Frank raced around the bases for a three-run stand up triple.
Starter Hobbs Johnson surrendered two hits through the first three frames before the Chanticleers were able to scratch out a run in the fourth. A pair of infield singles and a fielding error allowed Coastal Carolina to pull a run back and make it 5-1.

Johnson would be come out of the ball game with one out in the fifth for precautionary reasons due to forearm tightness. Johnson is probable to make his next scheduled start.

Sophomore right-hander Chris McCue came out of the bullpen cold but settled in right away as he forced a fly out and struck out CCU's number three hitter Alex Buccilli to end the inning.

McCue worked around an error to open the sixth and picked up a pair of strikeouts before another scoreless frame in the seventh to keep the Tar Heels in front, 5-1.

Carolina tacked on another run in the seventh thanks to a Skye Bolt RBI single to extend the margin to five, 6-1.

Senior Chris Munnelly came on and delivered a 1-2-3 eighth inning allowing the Tar Heel offense to plate another run in the eighth on a bases loaded walk drawn by Colin Moran.

Sophomore Luis Paula produced a spotless ninth as the combination of McCue, Munnelly and Paula retired 12 of the last 14 batters, including the final seven.

McCue earned the win out of the bullpen as he went two and two thirds and struck out five.
Chaz Frank paced the offense with a 2-for-4 performance with a run and three RBIs. Colin Moran

chipped in a pair of RBIs and scored twice as well.

Skye Bolt and Cody Stubbs each tallied two hits on the afternoon.

Up next for the Tar Heels is a visit from 2012 College World Series participant Stony Brook for a three-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m. at Boshamer Stadium.
