Greensboro, N.C. — Following a 37-13 win over Virginia on Thursday night, North Carolina placed three players on the weekly ACC Player of the Week list Monday – Sylvester Williams, Tre Boston and Quinshad Davis. NC State wide receiver Tobias Palmper also earned weekly honors by the conference as he was named the ACC Receiver of the Week following a record-setting week.
Palmer set an ACC record with 496 all-purpose yards in a 62-48 loss to Clemson. The yardage total was the second best in FBS history as Palmer recorded a school record 277 kick return yards and career best 219 receiving yards with three touchdowns.
Williams recorded a season-best eight tackles including two for loss and a sack to garner co-Defensive Lineman of the Week honors along with Clemson’s Vic Beasley.
Boston recorded 13 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown from his safety position en route to being named Defensive Back of the Week. The interception was Boston’s fourth of the year and eighth as a Tar Heel.
Davis was named Rookie of the Week after tying the ACC record with 16 receptions as he racked up 178 yards. Davis also set the UNC freshman mark with 52 receptions in a season and climbed to fifth all-time in the ACC for receptions and seventh in yards by a freshman.
In addition to Beasley, Clemson placed quarterback Tajh Boyd and offensive lineman Dalton Freeman on the weekly honor list. Virginia Tech kicker Cody Journell and Boston College linebacker Nick Clancey were also rewarded for their stand-out weeks.
