The National Football League!!!! WOW!! SMH!!!
bishopdiamond5 Nov 15, 2:32 p.m.
How long has Joe Webb been playing football? It's bad enough to block a guy in the back but even worse when the guy has no chance to make the play. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt them. Good Lord!!!
Let's try this again.....no blocking in the back!

Nice W by the Big Cats. Cam was pretty much flawless in the 1st half, had a great game throwing the ball (21 of 26 for 217), Olsen had a great game as well, as did Stew, and Ginn had a solid effort that should have been better. Panther's D played outstanding.
20 straight games rushing for over 100 yards as a team, nice win streak going.
Hated to see Ginn lose his TD & glad to Deekson (lol) get him a TD (#84).
Nice grab by #88 late.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 16, 7:00 p.m.
#1 needs to tone down the excessive celebration stuff. Let's not get carried away. Besides, he's gonna hurt his neck if keeps that up.
sweet D Nov 17, 5:01 a.m.
yep, its getting to the point where he is going out of his way to celebrate
starting to be a little contrived, and juvenile
if Cam was not on the panthers, i imagine most panther fans would not like the antics, at all
no need to excuse the antics just because you might be a panther fan
just play the game, and keep winning
bishopdiamond5 Nov 17, 6:35 a.m.
+1.....I hope they do well and I really want to support 'em 100%, & then I see that garbage. There are many others who are far more accomplished and have SB rings/MVPs to show for it. Not what you want from your "leader". He seems to do a lot of good things, only to take a step back with that stuff. smh
teej1 Nov 17, 10:03 a.m.
Hey, if you don't want to see Cam celebrate, stop him. Did he go a bit overboard on that last td against the Titans? Yep. Does it really matter? Nope.
No flag, no foul. Deal with it.
mittnfriends Nov 17, 5:00 p.m.
B, do I need to remind you again that sports are entertainment? Dancing is entertainment. Cam's dancing is never vulgar. He's always done it .Happy people tend to display emotions of their happiness.
Arguably the greatest QB of all time, Tom Brady, has been known to go psycho in his TD celebrations and in berating referees. Brett Favre was praised by the media for his youthful exuberance as he ran around the field celebrating. So, please tell us more about the other accomplished QB's and what your standards are for a leader of a team that plays a GAME. But, don't think your shallow argument won't get "discount double-checked".
mittnfriends Nov 17, 5:09 p.m.
"if Cam was not on the panthers, i imagine most panther fans would not like the antics, at all
no need to excuse the antics just because you might be a panther fan".
I'm certain you are speaking the truth in regards to the hypocrisy of some; but, I can assure you there is absolutely nothing wrong or immature about an athlete dancing to celebrate their hard-earned accomplishments.
Perhaps y'all should take a step back and ask yourself why you find a participant in a violent game dancing to be regressive?
It's not for everybody (Russell Wilson), but that doesn't mean it's wrong. Cam has done this probably since he was a little tike. Nevertheless, he has continued to mature into a fine upstanding citizen, an outstanding QB, and the Panthers' franchise has reaped the benefits as you their record plainly indicates.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 17, 8:08 p.m.
I knew I could bring you back. lol
Watched Favre for years and saw him jumping around at times while making his way to the sidelines. That is a little different than standing in the middle of a D while engaging in an extended celebration. It wouldn't be a big deal if it were a quick celebration and he just moved on, but that's not what happened. But hey, don't take my word it. Ask the Titans players, coaches, and fans.
As for Brady, I've seen him get animated many times but that is due to his passion for winning, imo. And who hasn't chewed on an official at some point in the NFL? I'm not a Brady fan but the only time I recall seeing him jawing or showing up an opponent is when said opponent starts it with him. I don't blame him in certain situations. And don't try and tell me Favre showed up his opponents...he was just the opposite unless an opposing player ticked him off. Continued....
bishopdiamond5 Nov 17, 8:18 p.m.
With all of that said, I'm one of those fans who didn't care for #1 on arrival. However, I've been following the Panthers more closely, along with Cam over the last couple of years, and have to admit that he has matured tremendously, is doing an outstanding job in the big scheme of things, and brings a "kid's" excitement to the game, which is great. I know he's doing a lot of good things away from the field, as well as on. Just didn't care for the extended celebration but there are greater tragedies in the world.
Takes time for some and he's getting there. He doesn't owe anybody an explanation aside from the Big Cat and his teammates, and as long as they're winning, it's not an issue for them I would think. Dude, I've actually warmed up to Cam because of the progress he's made. He's doing a fine job when it comes down to it and he's only going to get better.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 17, 8:21 p.m.
Agree with the maturity comment for the most part.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 5:23 a.m.
One more thing about your, "Dancing is entertainment" comment. Mitt, if I want to watch others dance, I'll watch, "Dancing with the Stars", or go to the nearest nightclub. I've yet to hear the nearest dude remark, "Ya know boys, I can't wait to see Cam score so I can watch him dance." I played sports because I enjoyed competing against others and I watch sports for similar reasons...the competition involved, not the dancing. No offense, Mitt, but I don't care to watch players dance. I'll take an order of competition with the excitement of winning and playing well on the side, and hold the fake celebrations (dancing).
sweet D Nov 18, 5:55 a.m.
not sure where you got "regressive" about the observations made, as they have nothing to do with performance or results
i simply think some of the celebrating is contrived and not as spontaneous as i would prefer it to be, since i dont have a problem with celebrating...i am an old White Shoes fan, who was one of the originals for me
as usual, winning cures all....i believe folks might look at this topic differently if the panthers were 4-5
is it the act of a td, itself, that makes it worthy of a celebration?
if the cats were getting rolled 37-7 with a minute to go in the game, and Cam scored on a plunge, would it be cool to do an extended, elaborate celebration? sure, its his prerogative, but how would that really look?
is it ok if you openly celebrate a personal achievement while the team is getting beat? if you are 9-0 and beating another opponent handily, on the other hand.......
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 6:26 a.m.
+1, D.....I'm pulling for the Panthers and hope they win a SB. They've been here since the mid '90s and have had 5 winning seasons in 20 years. Hope they do well. However, it's one thing for a player to celebrate a big TD in the heat of the moment, or display a natural emotional reaction, versus the rehearsed stuff we see after every TD. No interest in the fake, MEMEME stuff.
It's wasted energy, imo, and Cam should start focusing on that QBR, 31st in the NFL. Last I checked, the guy in Cleveland had a higher QBR. If not for a strong D, a solid rushing attack, and a 9-0 record, this is heading in a different direction.
Toddler10-21 Nov 18, 12:41 p.m.
I was upset with Antonio Brown doing a flip Sunday. Antics like that can cause injuries and I'm sure Tomlin let him know about it. As for Cam I agree with him if, "If you don't want me dancing keep me out of the end zone. I myself wish guys would just give the ball to a fan or give it back to a ref and act like you have been there before. I wonder if Cam would dance back during the Lambert, Mean Joe, LT, Deacon Jones, Butkus, Lott, days? Football was so different during the good ole days.
mittnfriends Nov 18, 1:55 p.m.
Your shifting the argument to QBR shows you're reaching.
I've noticed you finally giving Cam some of his due respect this year, but you're still stuck on worrying about some of the wrong things. Whether it be the benign dancing or ESPN's made up stat of QBR.
Case in point; "Cam should start focusing on that QBR, 31st in the NFL". He is, without a doubt, a top 5 QB in the NFL. That doesn't mean he will have gaudy stats in the traditional QB categories. It means he is something we've never seen before.
It is a culture shock to a lot of people. Whether it be the mistakes he made as a 19 year old, his race, his unwavering celebratory nature, his non-traditional QB style; there still exists a steady wave of petty and unfounded criticism.
In the same breath, you mention "solid rushing attack"; well, Cam is the second leading rusher on the team and has scored the most rushing TD's.
mittnfriends Nov 18, 2:00 p.m.
Tom Brady -
the best QB in the league
arguably the GOAT
having the best season of his career
600 more total yards than Cam
5 more total TD's than Cam
Cam's top weapon is his stud TE, Greg Olsen
Tom's top weapon his all-world TE, Rob Gronkowski
mittnfriends Nov 18, 2:06 p.m.
I wonder what Cam's passing number would look like if he had 100 more passing attempts.
mittnfriends Nov 18, 2:47 p.m.
"But hey, don't take my word it. Ask the Titans players, coaches, and fans".
Yes, we should ask the Titans player who actually confronted Cam during said incident. The same player had no problem doing a jig after merely sacking Cam earlier in the game as he benefited from a missed blocking assignment.
Rather, I suggest we ask the true professionals - the intellectually mature - like Greg Olsen. Someone who doesn't do the dancing thing, but is not so shallow to think it's a bad thing.
Here's a recap of Olsen's take on Cam's dancing and the criticism he receives. "At the end of the day, how many guys are having their number called at QB to run Q-Power on the 1 yard line and take on the entire defense and sellout physically and throw his body against linebackers and 300-pound D-linemen to score and put the game away. The guy is doing things that no other QB in the league can physically and - I would argue - would mentally want to handle".
mittnfriends Nov 18, 2:59 p.m.
"i believe folks might look at this topic differently if the panthers were 4-5"
Bishop and Todd know all too well that you're not talking to one of those folks.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 6:44 p.m.
"I wonder if Cam would dance back during the Lambert, Mean Joe, LT, Deacon Jones, Butkus, Lott, days? Football was so different during the good ole days." Toddler
The guys you id'd wouldn't go for that stuff. In fact, I have a pretty good idea as to how #42 might have reacted in SF, and it wouldn't have been good. Then again, he was one of the most feared players to ever play the game. Times have changed.... lol
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 7:01 p.m.
"Your shifting the argument to QBR shows you're reaching."
Negative! Just pointing out that he should focus on improving his QBR, as well as his comp. %. The numbers don't lie, Mitt. Are you suggesting that he has no room for improvement?
His rating is what it is. But hey, winning cures all ills....losing exposes them. For now, they're good. Just an fyi, Mitt....ALL players have things they can improve upon, no matter how well they're performing, & no matter how good they think they are.
"I've noticed you finally giving Cam some of his due respect this year, but you're still stuck on worrying about some of the wrong things. Whether it be the benign dancing or ESPN's made up stat of QBR."
Selective are we? Pretty sure I've given him credit in the past based on some of the things he was doing individually. Mitt, it's no secret he rubbed folks the wrong way his first couple of seasons in Charlotte. Is what it is. Besides, he's playing well now & they're winning ball games.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 7:11 p.m.
"Case in point; "Cam should start focusing on that QBR, 31st in the NFL". He is, without a doubt, a top 5 QB in the NFL. That doesn't mean he will have gaudy stats in the traditional QB categories. It means he is something we've never seen before."
There is always room for improvement. With that said, if the season ended today, I stand by an earlier comment in which I posted that he should be MVP. There is more than one way to win a ball game and he's proven that. The Panther's are definitely taking advantage of his skills on offense, but ya have to wonder how that is going to impact him physically in the future.
"In the same breath, you mention "solid rushing attack"; well, Cam is the second leading rusher on the team and has scored the most rushing TD's."
Well aware of that as he's going for 4.5 ypc with 6 TDs - pretty strong. Just as important, he's also made some clutch passes late in games.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 7:24 p.m.
"Yes, we should ask the Titans player who actually confronted Cam during said incident. The same player had no problem doing a jig after merely sacking Cam earlier in the game as he benefited from a missed blocking assignment."
Yep...I saw that and didn't care for it.
"Rather, I suggest we ask the true professionals - the intellectually mature - like Greg Olsen. Someone who doesn't do the dancing thing, but is not so shallow to think it's a bad thing."
I read what Olsen had to say and let's be honest about it. Olsen and the others are not going to publicly criticize their QB, even if they had an issue with it. Given the smack talk that occurs every Sunday, and given the comments that are directed at Cam, plus the stuff Olsen addressed, as players, the consensus may be that they really don't care what he does after a score. And Olsen certainly doesn't want to tick the guy off who throws him the ball on Sundays.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 7:33 p.m.
"Bishop and Todd know all too well that you're not talking to one of those folks."
Blind devotion will do that to a fan.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 18, 7:36 p.m.
OK, Mitt....give us a prediction on the Panther's final reg. season record.
Are you a Pats fan? Just curious.....
mittnfriends Nov 19, 12:08 a.m.
Optimistic me; They'll have a one loss regular season... that loss coming against either the Cowboy's, Giants, or Falcons. Then, they'll go on to beat the Pats in the SB.
Pessimistic me; They'll end up losing 2-3 games in the regular season... coming at the hands of 2 or 3 of the aforementioned teams. They'll then go on to lose to either AZ or GB in the NFC championship game.
I can honestly say I'm a fan of every team to some degree. Pre- Cam Newton, if one were to ask me who my favorite NFL team was; I would usually say I don't have one, but I'm rooting for whichever team has Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Brett Favre or Tony Gonzalez. Once the Panthers drafted Cam, I knew the home team had something special and I believe they'll be my team well beyond the Cam era. Cam-Kuechly-Davis-Olsen-Benjamin-Norman era is, I hope, more like it.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 19, 6:38 a.m.
Agree with ya and like your list of players with the exception of TO. Thought he was too much of a cancer. I could see the Panthers having problems in Dal (if Romo is playing), NY, & ATL, with no guarantee in NO. Hope they run the table but won't be surprised if they close at 13-3 (14-2 would be nice). If that happens, it's been a great season just the same, but the final stretch is not gonna be easy with 4 of 7 on the road.
Toddler10-21 Nov 19, 1:27 p.m.
TO no way Mitt. Agree with B he was all about TO. No matter what Cam does a lot just don't like him. I think it comes from his college background. Really some things need to be left in the past. Hey B only thing wrong with Peyton is father time just like Kobe. Two of the best of all time!
bishopdiamond5 Nov 19, 7:59 p.m.
Peyton is one of the best ever, but he should never be in the "best" conversations due to his playoff troubles. I knew he wanted Favre's passing yardage record but man....talk about waking up one day & not being able to compete (stats are crazy bad). Peyton is one of my all-time favs, a class act, etc., but it's time for him to move on. Just hate to see him go out this way.
Kobe is right up there with the rightful owner of #23,....MJ.
Saw where he has been having some issues shooting the ball although he's still scoring around 17 pts a game, but well off his career pace. Nobody beats Father Time and nobody ever will. He still has a game, just not the dominant player he once was. I'd still give MJ the edge as greatest of all-time, with Kobe up there as well, although there are a few others that should get some serious consideration. (Magic, Larry Legend, Kareem, Russell, Wilt etc.) I'd put the guy in Cleveland in the top 20...maybe. lol
bishopdiamond5 Nov 19, 8:03 p.m.
Meant to say considered "the best" - that would be Brady or Montana, with the Discount Double-Check guy as a strong possibility down the road.
mittnfriends Nov 20, 11:33 a.m.
"I'd put the guy in Cleveland in the top 20...maybe. lol".
Would you give a more favorable ranking if, let's say, he had a chance to play with Pippen and Rodman in their primes or Shaq and Gasol in their primes? Lol.
Toddler10-21 Nov 20, 1:00 p.m.
Kobe top ten don't think many would argue that. As you know we have been back and forth with the Peyton opinions, but he has been a class act. I think he won't be in anyone's top 3 because of his playoff record. I think the reason why Bradshaw isn't in anyone's top 5 is because of the team he was on. HOF defense, with Swann, Stallworth, Franco, Blier etc.. The only way you beat Brady is constant pressure like the Giants did in those 2 super bowls. Rogers misses Jordy Nelson big time! Also Curry, Curry, Curry. WOW!! I love to watch him play, but my favorite player in the NBA is Kwahi Leonard from the Spurs. Just a quiet ball player that gets the job done. Reminds me so much of Scottie Pippen.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 20, 5:56 p.m.
Had he played for those great Bulls and Lakers teams of the past, I'm sure his ranking would be much more favorable.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 20, 6:33 p.m.
Agree with ya about Peyton and TB. TB has 4 rings though, which obviously puts him in some elite company. Speaking of TB, I enjoy listening to him and the others on Sunday. They're very informative and entertaining. The '70s Steelers were a very special group, no doubt, and had some serious weapons on those teams. Name a player from those teams & he's a HOF'er.
Brady - agreed! Opposing teams have to keep up the pressure or he'll pick 'em apart. You know what they say, T? Easier said than done but that's the plan. AR definitely misses Nelson and his 98 grabs/1500 yards. Plus, I saw where #12 has been playing hurt...?
Curry - really like him & he's in a class by himself. Liked his dad when he was tossing them in for the Hornets years ago. Curry has the fastest gun/release in the NBA. Also like the fact that he played for Davidson (small school). Speaking of the Spurs, always liked Duncan - HOF'er and a class act, (5 rings)
sweet D Nov 20, 6:58 p.m.
hey guys, is Cam out of football, yet?
Toddler10-21 Nov 21, 12:39 p.m.
Cam is still hanging in there by a thread D!!! LOL!!
bishopdiamond5 Nov 22, 9:57 a.m.
Cam's way is working, and that's nice to see. I think the genuine concern has always been how he would hold up to NFL hits, especially since he's taken more of 'em than any other QB in the NFL since his first season. I look at that the same way I look at approaches to winning at the MLB level. Personally, I would prefer a rock solid lineup of "rakers", with the ability to score runs with 1 swing of the bat. However, there are those who prefer pitching/defense, and an opportunistic offense, or teama/players capable of manufacturing runs as needed. My point....you can win using different approaches and that is the beauty of sports. Doesn't really matter how ya get there, as long as ya get there. And Cam & the Panthers are winning....
bishopdiamond5 Nov 22, 2:49 p.m.
Heck of a game by Cam in the 1st half. Hitting different receivers, Stew is running hard, D playing well, etc.
mittnfriends Nov 22, 2:52 p.m.
Yes! Funchess' continued progress is great. There was even a Bersin siting! Let's hope Olsen is okay.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 22, 5:12 p.m.
Nice effort by the Panthers...5 different players caught a TD pass - very good distribution by #1, #28 went for over a 100, 21st consecutive game rushing for over 100 yards as a team, 31 1st half points which is a team record, Cam had his best day in the TD department (5), and the D dominated the 'Skins. Big game coming up...
bishopdiamond5 Nov 22, 5:23 p.m.
Funchess seems to be finding his groove, glad to see Bersin get some time, and Olsen hasn't missed a game since his rookie season unless I misunderstood the guys calling the game. Really impressed with Cam getting everybody involved - best way to keep 'em all focused & happy. Happy players = good team chemistry.
bishopdiamond5 Nov 26, 10:45 p.m.
Anybody see Greg Hardy today?
bishopdiamond5 Nov 27, 7:43 a.m.
I heard Greg Hardy played for the Cowboys, watched the game yesterday, and never heard his name called. Wasn't Hardy running the Panthers down earlier in the week?
Heck of a game by the D...nice win on the road. Thought the Cowboys would have had a better showing on Thanksgiving day.
GT Scored on their first drive! Nov 27, 10:53 a.m.

Two straight blowout losses on thanksgiving day for the girls. Americas team? LMAO! Will Jerry ever admit he misses Jimmy? Keep pounding Panthers unless you play the Steelers!
sweet D Nov 27, 11:18 p.m.
How about the Jerricho Cotchery renaissance? he seems to be one Cam likes to go to in the clutch......runs precise routes, good hands, blocks on running plays.....the cagey vet!
