Matt Moore, at point, would at least help in the turnover department. The numbers don't lie. Yes, Jake took us to the Superbowl 6 YEARS AGO!!! I like Jake as a leader, but his best days are behind him.

I disagree. I live in Tampa and most everybody you talk to around town
expects this to be a "rebuilding" year for the Bucs. While the Panthers have a challenging schedule, and some peolpe have their doubts about the QB, they'll still be better than the Bucs. I predict the Panthers will sweep the Bucs this season.

Obviously a hater of the Heels. I agree that hes getting paid too much but they all are. Dont we all want more money? I do. Hes one of the best d-lineman in the league. So if hes not worth the money then who is?

I would like to see JD be more consistent. He needs to get a someone that can help him mentally in games. He looks great and then a thud.

  • gwnunn Jun 25, 2009

Peppers is definitely not worth the money he is getting this year. That is what he wanted all the time, more mo. He may be worth a fourth of what he is getting.

i love the panthers, i love jakes fire, but if i had a choice of any QB to run the show in charlotte i`d take Matt Ryan,he`s young, got the arm, got the poise...barring injury, you`ll hear his name mentioned with manning and brady in the future IMO.. of course it would help if he went to a better team, like ummmmmmmmmm "the panthers" :):)

Don't count me among the "we". I have no desire to trade Jason Campbell for Jake Delhomme. If Campbell doesn't make it this season, then he won't be re-signed and the Redskins will move on. However, the answer for the Skins isn't a QB in his latter 30s. Otherwise, we'd try to get Zorn's boy Hasslebeck from Seattle.

i'm a bit concerned about the upcoming season, but i'm no fair weather fan...i'm with my Panthers all the way!

  • DasStonecutter Jun 15, 2009

Jake? No, Jake is fine. We'll trade Jason Campbell for him any day of the week. Panthers probably will win the south, but the Falcons look real good too. The Aints are a one-trick pony. If you shut down their WRs, they are lost. And I don't hear anyone saying the Texans should have drafted Reggie Bush nowadays. Not drinking the Kool-Aid on them yet. And the Bucs, well, they're not going to do well. Who's their QB? RB? Didn't they lose Galloway to the Patriots? No, I gotta say the Panthers are in much better shape than the Bucs.

    Good points! Tough schedule though.

  • Longshanks Jun 13, 2009

I agree, it ain't Jake. He's had NO defensive help and has had to play pass ball most of the 2nd half. If we hadn't had the running tandem we had last year, it would have been a different story. Now, they do have a tough schedule, but I think the problems with the D may be over. Ron Meeks is one of the BEST coordinators in the NFL, and if you've been paying attention, the defensive starting line (and most reserve linemen) have lost a total of over 600 pounds in Ron Meeks conditioning strategy. Pretty good if you ask me, and from what they say, they're faster than ever. Plus, Beason should be even better after getting that bum shoulder fixed in the off season. Our seconday is a concern, but we've patched some holes and Meeks is not a newbie. I think the Panthers are OK. The Sucky Bucs will finish LAST in the conference, guaranteed. After what Atlanta did in the off season and New Orleans didn't lose anyone, Tampa better suck it up. They'll be lucky to win 3 division games. 'Nuff said.

Good observation. With that schedule, it could be bad, I hope not.

  • kennywalters Jun 10, 2009

ZOMG, you know the Panthers need Bret Favre........

Unless you guys get a GREAT quarterback, you might as well keep Delhomme. The problem comes when you ask him to win the game for you and don't ask him to just not lose it.

I like the fact that Jake is emotional - it shows he cares and I think it inspires his team. The reason I think this will be a tough year for the Panthers is that they have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL, we lost our defensive coaching staff, the Peppers debacle, etc. I like Jake, but he is inconsistent, and I'm not talking about the game with the Cardinals. He just had a bad game at a bad time. I remember hearing before the Cardinals game that Jake had the best 4th Quarter record of ALL the NFL QB's. I was surprised. Happy, but surprised. I'm no jake hater - I think he's a classy guy on and off the field and other than the blue chippers that royhill mentioned in his post, I'd take Jake, but he is getting up there in years and he can be inconsistent. I like the Panthers, Jake and Coach Fox and want them to succeed, but my gut tells me this will not be a good year. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Jake does a good job for all the help he gets. Which is a lot of NONE.

I couldn't agree more. Jake is not the problem! In fact, while he may not be a Manning, a Rivers, a Brady, etc., he has done a very respectable job. Since arriving in Charlotte, Jake has passed for over 100 TDs, approx. 18,000 yards, has a respectable QB rating of 85.1, 2 division titles, 3 playoff appearances, a Super Bowl appearance, 1 losing record in 5 seasons as a starter & I'm not counting 07 as Jake was injured, & he completes about 60% of his passes. Just look at the Panthers before & after Jake, it's really simple. If you know anything about football, we should be able to reach an agreement that Jake, despite the Cardinal game, is not the problem. He also possesses certain intangibles that qualify him as an effective leader/QB. I understand Jake can be emotional, etc., but as a Panther fan who looks forward to the playoffs, I want Jake behind center if we can't get one of the studs I mentioned above. As for TB, I don't see the Suckaneers doing much. Panther fans, would you want the TB QB/coaching situation at this point? I'll take JAKE & his emotions on the sleeve approach 7 days a week.

There are about 4-5 sure things at QB (Peyton, Brady, Roth, Rivers, Eli). Outside of that everyone is mediocre or unpredictable, who would you rather have that we can honestly hope to get??? A draft choice? That is the biggest gamble of all, how many supposedly great QB's have bombed in the NFL? Too many to count. Our problem is not Jake, its no defense!

Why will it be a tough year for the Panthers?? With one of the best running back duos in the league and a young fast D .... we will be fine.

And the BUCS are garbage ..... a new coach and about six new QBs will not serve them well...... Panthers win the Division ...... BUCS place DEAD LAST.
