Cut him. He is a bust!

A couple of reasons why I disagree with you. For starters, Drew Brees isn't going to tuck it and run like Edwards does (did), also, As fast as Edwards is, he's in the NFL now, everyone is fast. I say stick with Clausen/Newton at QB, let Edwards stick with WR/KR.

There is a good article on Armanti on the Panthers website about how he has accepted his role with the Panthers and has been working his tail off in the off season to get better at receiver and kickoff return. I am an App grad and think he was a great QB, but even the new coach doesn't see him as QB - Cam Newton nixed that in the bud. Hope he plays more than just a few plays this year!

Gents and Ladies, I've been arguing this for a year now...he's got a cannon for an arm, reads defenses quite well, and can run like the wind...and for those that argue that he's too small, well,I say that he's the same height/size as Super Bowl Champ Drew Brees...enough said...I think it's one of the dumbest "non-moves" ever to not happen....just my opinion....huge waste of talent...

Edwards was all that at App but he has proven nothing except he can fumble in the NFL. However I would work him into a lot of things in the preseason and see what he can do. QB starter? No. QB for trick plays? Maybe. Slot R or KR? Give those another hard look.

I pulled for Edwards all last year because they didn't have a QB. Claussen is a joke. NO WAY is Edwards going to be in front of Cam Newton. He will win games. I would however put Edwards in front of the ND star and the rest. They didn't do Jack down there. And. No OL didn't help anyone at QB. Give Cam some pocket time and he will show the naysayers.

So, we just drafted a quarterback and we are supposed to let Edwards play quarterback? Do you really belief that? I do agree he should be used pass from the wide receiver position, or in the wildcat. But, if our quarterback is going to be Cam, then he needs to lead the team and run the qb position.

I'll take Armani Edwards over Cam Newton any day; but, it doesn't matter who's at QB as long as you continue to have an extremely poor offensive line as the Panthers have...pretty simple, really.

No. He is an athlete but he does not have the size or the skills to play QB in the NFL.

LOL - I am an ASU grad and faithful follower, and there is no way Edwards should be starting QB for the Panthers.

  • dtd1961 Apr 25, 2011

Never. Can he even see over the center?

I think if the Panthers installed Edwards at QB they could finally win that Southern Conference title. But it won't be easy. Wofford has really improved.

  • swray001 Apr 21, 2011

Edwards would make a great wide receiver. That position would give him a better chance to stay in the NFL.

This one is so old. Last Oct. Edwards messed up wtih going down there to a dysfunctional organization. Pure and simple. Wasted talent. I hope Richardson would hire his sons back that he fired. Can't get any worse. Fox didn't give Edwards a shot. Well. He isn't all knowing; is he? He put a stamp on hurting Edwards career. What the hell could have have lost?

I agree, you'd be crazy not to give AE a chance..what did we have to lose last year when we wasted money picking up a stay at home dad. I've seen Armanti time and time again surprise people, and I realize this is a completely different ballgame but just give him a chance.

  • gt_football Jan 5, 2011

A.Edwards would get broken in half....he's a spread QB from App State...not gonna happen....I see we have some dulutional App State fans on here.

  • Lars Marson Jan 4, 2011

Ive been saying this ALLLLL season long...he ant do any worse then Moore or Clausen!!! Why make him learn a whole new position which he never played at App State, its STUPID! Switch him to # 2 QB, draft Andrew Luck and maybe..maybe keep Moore at #3 QB. and then work on every other position with the Panthers!

  • rlee1117 Nov 30, 2010

I say give him a tryout in practice and your so right the o-line is not doing the job with all the big names it has up front. YES CAROLINA NEEDS A QB MAYBE GET COBB FROM PHILLY BUT KEEP WILLIAMS IN THE BACKFIELD WITH STEWART ALSO! BRING IN COWHER AS COACH AND IN 3 YEARS YOU WILL HAVE A SUPER BOWL TEAM AGAIN

Edwards has taken 2 snaps this year in the "Wildcat". He handed-off on one and ran for a 7-yard gain on the other. He has not played in a game since then although the opportunities have certainly been there to give him a shot. The kid is a player and should be given a chance.

  • exteacher Nov 24, 2010

I don't know if he should play QB, but he needs to be starting at WR. If he makes a mistake, what difference does it make at this point? At least find out what he's got.

Edwards size should bot be an issue. He is as tall as Drew Brees. He set records at ASU, and competed against some that are NFL QB's. I hope that he leaves and gets a shot somewhere.

I still think this offensive production problem is a result of the Offensive Coordinator. He is in charge of designing and implementing plays that work. Anyone can see it's not happening. The execution of plays and making them work is not happening. He's the person responsible for making the offense go and its definitely not going. His job should be the one on the line. Changing quarterbacks will do nothing until blocking assignments, routes, predictability of calls, and execution of plays is implemented.

  • NHS_Junior Nov 7, 2010

First off Edwards has been active within games because I have seen him play a few downs at Wide out. Secondly after watching the dismal play of Clausen / Moore how could you not even consider it. The big issue I agree is that of the Offensive Line. If they don't protect Edwards then he won't be able to run or pass.

The bottom line is Amanti comes from a winning culture up at ASU. He knows how to play as a good college QB and probably could do the "same" for the Panthers.

I have supported Fox for a long time. With their offensive woes, what do they have to lose with giving Edwards a chance in the Wildcat? He can run as fast as Vick.

that man deserves a chance just like these other two wannabes whom, may I add havent proven themselves worthy of anything other than being in a dodge ball contest with moore throwing on one end and clausen on the other...haha

You're all sick! You could put Brett Bradshaw Staubach behind Panthers offensive line and they would look like Delhomme. Offensive line key to football, the NFL would eat Edwards alive, kmowing he.s gonna try to run. And stop pulling Bill Cowhers name out your booty, the likelyhood of Bill Cowher coaching for the Panthers is about the same as trying to wipe the stink off doody, it aint gonna happen!

I have been stating all season that Edwards can run and pass as well as any they have. I know he can run much better.

  • ncJB96 Oct 27, 2010

Let Edwards run the 'Wildcat'. He is a threat to run or PASS out of that set.
The owner and/or GM is the reason for this season being so bad. They went cheap and young. Fox has to work with what he is given. The O-line has let him down bad this season, can't block or open running lanes. We have some great backs.

Actually, while NCSU made his point in a rude manner, he is correct (my opinion). Cowher was in Pittsburgh for a long time and at times was on the hot seat. Not taking anything away from Cowher, but that organization has had 3 coaches in the last 30 years. Pittsburgh is one of the best run franchises in any pro sport in this country, if not THE best. Alot of the Panthers problems are out of Fox's hands. While it may not be a bad move to change coaches, Fox has done alot of good. The Panthers have made some horrible personel decisions and overall have drafted poorly with some exceptions. Hurney is as much at fault, if not more than Fox. The Panthers should have drafted a QB along time ago, should never have put the franchise tag on Peppers or signed Delhomme to such a lucrative contract coming off of Tommy John surgery to name a few.

you have no idea what you are talking about, you ignorant sh.t. To call john fox a bargain basement coach after everything he's done for the panthers shows that you obviously aren't a real panthers fan. and guess what? bill cowher (not cower you tard) is pretty much the same coach as john fox. he is a defense, run first kind of guy, and was in pittsburgh for 14 years before he won a super bowl

QB is one topic. The 9r's have a sloppy day with their QB injured and all at once the Tabbycats are in the headlines and Moore is a hero. BS They need to go to the top and fire the entire coaching staff Foxie first. Untold $$$$$ have been spent on the franchise and bargain basement coaches from day one. Someone needs to be at Cower's house taking out the trash, doing laundry, taking the kids to school and begging every 15 minutes on hands and knees. Let's get real for the first time ever. Disapointed

  • NCSU Oct 24, 2010

haha you don't know anything about the panthers if you think that edwards will ever be let near the qb position. He hasn't even been active for a single game yet. I guess if the team plane crashed on the way to an away game he might get a shot

Not gonna happen guys, he was drafted as a wideout and he will either A) play some at that position or B) get cut in the near future and by another wasted draft pick by Carolina.
