I'm so glad we've got Cam this year! He seems to be generating a bigger following which is something we definitely need. And maybe is someone from the panthers team would check out this video, we could get the big fanbase they deserve! http://bit.ly/mQBpvL

I did get something right in regard to Newton. He is starting. He had a record setting game yesterday as we all know. They weren't playing a tough team either. The Panthers need to do something on the defense. Man, they didn't do much yesterday. Give some rookies a shot, and maybe some of the vets will work a little harder. Defense lost it.

Cam Newton is only scared that his daddy will try something stupid again. He will not be afraid of anything they throw at him down there. I don't know how many watched him last year, but I did watch im in several games. He has the determination, guts, and the skills necessary to be special. He wants to prove this to all of the naysayers. He will be successful. He will start before the 2nd game.

I am just busting your chops. It sucks when the mistake is made on the title. I don't know if you can fix that.
But, like you I was very excited about a few of the things I saw Saturday. I am looking forward to seeing improvements in other areas throughout the rest of the preseason. I still think this team is better than the 4.5 over/under Vegas has on them.

i agree. Some of the apprehension at taking Cam #1 was eased Sat night. the kid did not look scared. He did not look to run at the first sign of trouble. I thought he demonstrated poise for a first year guy. Like another poster said, accuracy is going to be what holds him back. Can you improve accuracy over time? I don't know.

I was not a fan of drafting Cam (nor for him being able to play a single down in college after his father was caught bidding him around) BUT I saw things differently Saturday night. I didn't see a run-first mentality like Vick (like I thought I would). Heck there wasn't even a run second mentality. He stood in the pocket and took his shots. As far as the 42% completion ratio, look who he was throwing to. Who? That's right "who". Other than Olsen and Shockey (who were probably the only ones who caught a pass) who were the other guys? Edwards is not a receiver despite his jersey number. Colleges turn high school quarterbacks into receivers. Not the NFL. Hope Steve Smith has a great year - because he'll have to. But my point is Newton actually impressed me.

Cam is one of the greatess atHletes to ever play QB, but that is not what wins. Accuracy does. Montana was one of the all time best QB's to ever play the game. Not a great athlete, and a weak arm by NFL standards, but he could thread a needle with his passes and had poise under pressure. Cam's 42% completion rate last night is a killer. He will make some plays this season which will be mindboggling great, either with his cannon arm or fantastic speed and agility, but he will not be able to make play after play, keep the chains moving throws. Accuracy can be enhanced SOME with coaching and experience, but he is what he is..NOT AN ACCURATE THROWER. That being said, he is much like Vick when he came out of college and since Vick got out of prison he suddenly is more accurate passer so hopefully like Vick, Cam can be an exception to the rule.

They looked great last night. Just one preseason game but the intensity is there in all three phases. How refreshing it is to watch the Panthers play so well on special teams. Cam looks a whole lot better than I expected. Kid has got a cannon. He just needs to work on the accuracy and I see a future star. Go Panthers!
