Panthers' rookie QB Newton named to Pro Bowl

Cam Newton, the rookie quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, was added Monday to the NFC Pro Bowl squad. Newton replaces Eli Manning of the New York Giants, who will be playing in the other big game – Super Bowl XLVI.
Newton, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, completed 310 of 517 passes for 4,051 yards – the most by a rookie in NFL history – and had 21 touchdowns with 17 interceptions. More Carolina Panthers coverage
Newton was the first player in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for at least 500 yards in a single season. His 14 rushing touchdowns are the most ever by a quarterback in a single season.
