Panthers' rookie QB Newton named to Pro Bowl

Posted January 23, 2012

Cam Newton

Cam Newton, the rookie quarterback of the Carolina Panthers, was added Monday to the NFC Pro Bowl squad. Newton replaces Eli Manning of the New York Giants, who will be playing in the other big game – Super Bowl XLVI.

Newton, the No. 1 overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, completed 310 of 517 passes for 4,051 yards – the most by a rookie in NFL history – and had 21 touchdowns with 17 interceptions.  Carolina Panthers Logo More Carolina Panthers coverage

Newton was the first player in NFL history to pass for 4,000 yards and rush for at least 500 yards in a single season. His 14 rushing touchdowns are the most ever by a quarterback in a single season.

I stated this one earlier when Cam had his numbers rolling. He is deserving of this huge Honor. He will be on his way for some more Pro Bowls too. No one has done what he did as a QB in one season with a semi weak team.

and what birds are you referring to?? come on sweetheart, you already showed us your racial hate so dont be bashful now. what birds are you talkig about?

  • tekmafia Jan 24, 2012

OK I stand corrected it was Brady who threw for over 5,000 not Rodgers because Rodgers only played in 15 games. Sorry!!!!

  • tekmafia Jan 24, 2012

Im gonna keep it 100 with you folks. I don't like Cam. It has nothing to do with how great he was at Community College or how great he was at Auburn or how great he has been for Carolina. It has everything to do with how great he wasn't at Florida and it was a complete result of his character flaws. If you ask me who is a better QB between Stafford and Newton id take Newton. But who deserves the pro bowl? hmmmm so that one guy Rodgers threw for over 5,000 yds right? and the other guy Brees threw for over 5,000 yds and broke Marino's records right? Lets see....yeah i'll take the only other guy in the league to throw for over 5,000 yds and who was also on the better team. Matt outplayed Cam head to head as well. Sorry Cammy Cam but your the 5th best QB in the NFC currently

And you are proof that birds of a feather really do flock together.

He's the new quarterback of the future. All coaches will be trying to find one like him, but he's the one and only, and the Panthers have him. Go Panthers!

Good for Cam. Look what he's done for Steve Smith. Steve is a bonafide pro-bowler once again thanks to Cam. Looking forward to next year when Carolina wins the NFC South.

I'm happy for Newton. He did the job last season as a rookie. He will have a great career down there. His numbers are out there for anyone to see. He kept himself straight and I can't find any fault in him. I was one of the rare few on here that stated that he was a great draft choice for the Panthers. He proved it.
