Quarterback battle highlights Tar Heels camp

— On Saturday, the Carolina faithful got to meet the Heels, as the Heels met the media.

For head coach Larry Fedora, that meant double-digit, consecutive quarterback inquiries.

“Any other position you guys would like to talk about today?” Fedora joked during the run. “It’s going to be whoever makes the offense most productive. On top of that, it’s going to be who leads this team the best.”

Marquise Williams and Mitch Trubisky will be flip-flopping the first two weeks of preseason camp as to which quarterback will be practicing with the first team.

The incumbent, Williams, who led UNC to a bowl last season, is fine with the competition.

“It’s my job if I want it to be my job,” Williams said. “I’m working for it to be my job and I’m working to be with the first team. That’s how you have to think. Whatever happens next, happens next.”

Meanwhile, the state of Ohio’s “Mr. Football” is finding his voice, as Trubisky is taking a more vocal role in the offense.

“At first, I wasn’t as comfortable saying something to an older guy because I haven’t played,” Trubisky said, “but I’ve learned I do have a voice on this team and guys do listen to what I say.”

Mum is the word on a starter for the Tar Heels season opener against Liberty any time soon though.

“The game’s on the 30th. We’ve got to make a decision on that morning, sometime, I would imagine,” Fedora said to a laugh. “We’ve got to put somebody out there for that first snap.”

You must be kidding...you know nothing about the kid, and you yet again demonstrate how pathetic you Back Packers are hating on kids just trying to play the game.

Marquise has the game experience, he should be the starter. Make Trubisky earn it, he'll have his day soon enough.
