RailHawks fall 4-3 to Rowdies
Posted August 9
Cary, N.C. — Despite dominating possession and scoring three goals in the second-half, the Carolina RailHawks lost 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Rowdies Saturday at WakeMed Soccer Park.
“We appreciate the fans coming out tonight,” said Head Coach Colin Clark. “It’s been raining all day. It was a good game with a lot of goals, but we’re disappointed that we weren’t able to get the three points.”
The RailHawks (2W-0T-4L, 6pts) got off to a slow start in the first half as Tampa scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the match. The Rowdies' goals came in the 3rd and 10th minutes by Amani Walker and Tamika Mkandawire, respectively.
Two goals by RailHawks players Zack Schilawski (48th) and Enzo Martinez (51st) tied the game prior to the Rowdies (3W-0T-2L, 9pts) scoring their third and fourth goals of the match in the 77th and 84th minutes of play. A lone own-goal by the Rowdies wasn’t enough for the RailHawks to tie the game.
The RailHawks return to WakeMed Soccer Park this coming Saturday, Aug. 16 to take on Canadian rival FC Edmonton. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
