RailHawks fall to Edmonton on PK

Posted August 16, 2014

— Two goals by RailHawks forward Zack Schilawski weren’t enough for the Carolina RailHawks (2W-0T-5L, 6pts) to defeat FC Edmonton (2W-2T-3L, 8pts) on Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The 3-2 loss snapped the RailHawks 4-match home unbeaten streak against FC Edmonton dating back to 2012.

Zack Schilawski had the first goal of the match in the 12th minute as he found the back of the net with a tremendous header off a cross from defender Jordan Graye. His second goal of the match came in the 75th minute off a penalty kick.

FC Edmonton came alive in the second half scoring all three of their goals after the 53rd minute. Lance Laing started the scoring, Ritchie Jones put them ahead 2-1 in the 64th minute, and Hlavaty's penalty kick goal in stoppage time lifted Edmonton to victory.

The Carolina RailHawks will travel to Florida to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies Saturday at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg. The RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer Park on Aug. 30 to take on the Atlanta Silverbacks.
