RailHawks travel to Tampa for NASL semifinal matchup

Posted October 12, 2012

— The Carolina RailHawks will face the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the second leg of the Semifinals Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Petersburg.

Despite dominating and outshooting the Rowdies in the first leg, the RailHawks lost 2-1 and are currently down a goal in the aggregate score. Aggregate score is determined by adding the goals of both legs with the winner advancing to the NASL Championship Series.

Saturday’s match is a must win for the RailHawks to keep their postseason alive. A win by 2 or more goals will punch the RailHawks ticket into the NASL Championship Series. A win by 1 goal would send the teams into overtime with two 15-minute periods. If the aggregate score continues to be tied at the end of the two overtime periods, the winner will be determined by a penalty shootout.

“We were disappointed after the result last Saturday, but we are confident we can get the resulted needed to continue into the playoffs,” said Head Coach Colin Clarke. “The training sessions this week have been very sharp and the fans can expect to see a team that is giving to give 100 percent the entire game.”

The match will be shown live on Saturday at 7:30 PM at www.CarolinaRailHawks.com/LIVE. Fans can also join the RailHawks at Mellow Mushroom in Cary for the RailHawks Watch Party.
